In recent decades, there witnesses a gradual increase in the average life expectancy of

the population. This essay will discuss the main problems associated with this issue and
propose some workable remedies.
On the one hand, there are number of problems which are derived from the increasing
average life expectancy. One of the major problems is the degradation of the quality of
the workforce. Indubitably, the young may frequently have better physical and mental
health than the old, which means that they could work with a high productivity.
Resultantly, more and more old people could probably reduce the efficiency of their
work.
On the other hand, since the phenomenon can culminate in severe and wide-ranging
problems, the government and individuals should take action instantaneously address
them. The first efficacious solution is to enhance skills development for the old. No
doubt, if the government concentrated on improving necessary skills for the old, they
could probably enhance their abilities, which may narrows down the proficiency gap
with young people, proportionally, the work efficiency is likely ensured. Another
practical approach to tackle this phenomenon is to create appropriate job market for the
older people. Doubtlessly, old people are frequently not suitable for many kinds of job,
hence, the government could provide them more job opportunities, which probably
helps them remain competitive in the job market.
In conclusion, while increasing in the average life expectancy can lead to the decrease in
the workforce quality, improving skills development for the old can be a feasible
approach.
