THE LEGEND OF TELAGA WARNA

Once upon a time, there was a Kingdom in West Java. The Kingdom was ruled by a kind
and wise King named Prabu. Unfortunately, the queen hadn’t got any children It made the queen
very sad. The queen rubbed her belly and said, “When will I have a baby?”

After seeing this almost every day, The King Prabu went to the jungle. He prayed to God
for begging a child.
“Oh Lord… you have given me everything, everything but why until now you haven’t
given me a child? Please lord, show your miracle!”
A few months later the queen got pregnant. She was very happy. She rubbed her belly,”
You are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy. When skies are grey. Oh my
baby baby baby baby I love you so much. Love you love you love forever. I love you my baby”
Nine months later the princess was born. She was beautiful. She was cheerful and
charming. The King and the queen loved the princess very much. They gave everything she
wanted.
But do you know guys? By the time, the princess turned into a spoiled girl.
One day princess celebrated her seventeenth birthday party. Many people gathered in the
palace. They brought present for the princess; gold and diamond. But King Prabu only took some
of them. He made them into a beautiful necklace special for the princess.

The king said, “My daughter, today is your birthday. May God always bless you. Please
wear this neclace.”

The princess replied, “What? What is this? Beautiful necklace? Iyuuh…”

The king said, “This is a beautiful necklace. It is special for you.”

Then, the princess snatched the necklace out the Prabu’s hand.

“No father! This necklace is ugly! I don’t like it”.

She threw the necklace away. The necklace was broken. The gold and diamond were
scattered on the floor.

The king was shocked and everybody was very shocked. Everybody froze. Nobody could
dare say anything. In the silence, they could hear the queen was crying. They could feel her pain
and sorrow.
The queen said, ““Princess… how can you do that? I don’t expect you to be a good
daughter. But you are the princess! You should be wise! You should be kind to people!”
Then, everybody started crying as well. A miracle happened. The earth was crying too.
Suddenly, surges of water burst out of the underground creating a pool of water. The water
flowed more and more. The King, The Queen and all the people floated away and disappeared.
Finally it drowned the kingdom. Nowadays people called it “Telaga Warna”.
