Prophets are messengers of

ALLAH to His slaves, they convey his commands
and tell them the delights that ALLAH has promised
them if they obey His commands. Ibn Taymiyah, one
of the greatest scholars of Islam who wrote many
valuable books – said:
Messenger-ship is essential to guide mankind to that which is best
for them in this world and in the Hereafter. Man cannot follow what
is best for him with regard to the Hereafter unless he follows the
Message and he cannot be guided to what is best for him in this
world unless he follows the Message. Man needs the sharee’ah
(Divine law) because he has two motives, to bring that which will
benefit him and to ward off that which will harm him. This
sharee’ah is the light of Allah on this earth, and His justice among
His slaves, and the refuge which whoever enters it will be safe.

A prophet is someone chosen by

ALLAH to speak for ALLAH. Their job, whatever the
time period or tidings, was to accurately impart His
message. People need sun, moon, wind and rain like
the body’s need for food and drink. But the need of
prophets is not like this. Rather it is greater than that,
greater than his need for anything you could think of.
The Prophets are intermediaries between Allah and
His creation, conveying His commands. They are

ambassadors of Allah, to illuminate the way of

mankind.
‫َو َمۤا َاۡر َس ۡل ٰن َک ِااَّل َر ۡح َمًۃ ِّلۡل ٰع َلِم ۡی َن‬

And We have sent thee not but as a mercy for all

peoples.
The last and greatest of them, the noblest before his
Lord, was Muhammad (peace be upon him). Allah
sent him as a mercy to the worlds, guidance for
those who want to be closer to Allah, proof which left
no excuse for all people. He enjoined the people to
obey him, love him, respect him, support him, and
acknowledge his rights.
Quran says that,
‫َما َک اَن ُمَح َّمٌد َاَبۤا َاَح ٍد ِّم ۡن ِّر َج اِلُک ۡم َو ٰل ِک ۡن َّر ُسۡو َل الّٰل ِہ َو َخ اَتَم الَّنِبّٖی َن ؕ َو َک اَن‬
‫الّٰل ُہ ِبُک ِّل َش ۡی ٍء َع ِلۡی ًما‬

Muhammad is not the father of any of your men,

but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of
the Prophets; and Allah has full knowledge of all
things.

Man is created as he has to know his creator and

why was he created. He can’t come to know by
himself. He needs something that will give him
security and peace of mind and guide him to the
means of true happiness. This is what Prophets and
Messengers guide people towards. No one can
produce perfect law except the Prophets. The
Prophets guide mankind towards the right path, that
leads towards the Paradise and bliss in the
Hereafter.
‫َّو َداِع ًیا ِاَلی الّٰل ِہ ِبِاۡذ ِنٖہ َو ِس َر اًج ا ُّم ِنۡی ًر ا‬

And as a Summoner unto Allah by His command,

and as a Lamp that gives bright light.
Prophecy allows us to know the signs of the time,
what to pray for, and what to expect. God does not
speak directly audibly to humanity but only through
His chosen servants. He speaks to His prophets, and
then the prophets give God’s message to humanity.
Prophets are the eyes of God’s people. Muslims
believe that God has provided guidance to humanity
over the ages through the institution of prophet-hood.
In Islam, prophets are righteous and truthful

messengers selected by God to fulfill the most

important mission—calling on people to worship God
alone and teaching them to live righteously, in
accordance with God’s commandments. Muslims
believe prophets, and the scriptures given to some of
and that God has chosen, throughout history,
thousands of prophets from among all peoples of the
earth, culminating with the last prophet,
Muhammad(pbuh).
‫َلَقۡد َج ٓاَء ُکۡم َر ُسۡو ٌل ِّم ۡن َاۡن ُفِس ُک ۡم َع ِز ۡی ٌز َع َلۡی ِہ َما َع ِنُّتۡم َح ِر ۡی ٌص َع َلۡی ُک ۡم ِباۡل ُم ۡؤ ِم ِنۡی َن‬
‫َر ُءۡو ٌف َّر ِح ۡی ٌم‬
Surely, a Messenger has come unto you from
among yourselves; grievous to him is that you
should fall into trouble; he is ardently desirous of
your welfare; and to the believers he
is compassionate, merciful.
Allah sent messengers throughout the ages so that
mankind might be guided to the truth and be purified
of sins. Those who were enlightened by the
Messengers of Allah, found the way to divine and
attained the highest rank of humanity. They led

mankind to the knowledge of Allah.

Allah cannot be contained by the heavens and earth.
Minds cannot comprehend Him. Philosophical
thoughts are by no means sufficient to reach Him. It
is only through a prophets soul or heart that a man
can realize the existence of Allah. Prophet
Muhammad (pbuh) left us Quran Sunnah so that we
can follow and live in accordance with the purpose
for which all the Prophets were sent.
ALLAH says,
“And I did not create jinn and mankind except to
worship Me.”

Conclusion

We have not been created to eat, drink and

reproduce; these are natural factors and needs of
our life. The main purpose for our creation is to
recognize Allah and realize Him. For this reason, all
the Prophets were sent to show us the way to
achieve servitude to Allah.
As Allah says,
“There is no deity except me, so worship Me.”

Quran says,
“And We certainly sent into every nation a
messenger, Worship ALLAH and avoid false
deities. And among were those whom Allah
guided and among them were those upon whom
error was decreed. So proceed through the earth
and observe how was the end of the deniers.”
