    RETDEM SCRIPT FOR GLOVING

    Good Morning Ma’am, I am Ivy Lurraine Lagramada of BSN-1B and I am about to perform
    Open Gloving Return Demonstration. The use of gloves reduces the risk of contaminating
    the healthcare workers’ hands with blood and other bodily fluids. It also reduces the risk of
    pathogen dissemination to the environment and it reduces the risk of transmission of
    microorganisms from the healthcare worker to the patient and vice versa. Prior to the
    procedure, I have already performed handwashing and always remember that gloving
    does not replace the essentiality of hand washing.

    >First is to assess the client for latex allergies, make sure that you have a sterile glove and
    also ensure sterility of the package of the gloves.

    >I am now going to remove the outer wrapper of the package. Be careful not to spill the
    inside contents to keep the sterility of the gloves. Grasp the inner package and place it on
    a clean dry flat surface because moisture can contaminate the gloves and area must be
    on waist level because any object held below the waist is considered contaminated.

    >Open the inner wrapper. And determine the right and left glove.

    >Then for easier application, apply the glove unto your dominant hand first. Since I’m right-
    handed, I am going to wear the gloves on my right hand first.

    >Grasp the inside cuff of the glove. And tuck the thumb in.

    >Next is to slip my fingers beneath the cuff of the other glove and slip. Since both of my
    hands are gloved, I can now arrange them properly.

    >Clasp both hands and make sure hands are away from the body. This is to avoid touching
    non-sterile objects and the front of our uniforms.

    >To remove, execute first on the dominant hand and pinch the glove in the palm area then
    pull.

    >To the non-dominant hand, slip finger on the inside of the glove and remove.

    We can now discard the gloves. It is necessary to perform hand hygiene again after this
    procedure.
