Introduction
At Perkins, we have a long history of being a preferred partner to our OEM customers utilising our
engines. The selection of the right engine for the right application, the technical performance and
long-term durability of the engine is paramount for the OEM’s product to be successful and for the
end customer to get the performance they expect. To achieve this success, Perkins has an
established process developed over decades to ensure the engine is installed the right way to
achieve these high levels of performance and durability.
For the application and installation process to be executed as designed, training is a vital
component. Although Perkins has always offered training to our network of A&I engineers, we felt
new investment was needed in this area as the complexity of products increases, newer tools are
released, and new regulations are coming into effect in many new regions around the world.
This Guidebook will introduce you to our new A&I training programme and help you get started.
We are confident that this enhanced training will highlight the value our A&I engineers bring to the
sales process and ensure Perkins remains our customers engine supplier of choice.
Guidebook purpose
This guidebook is designed to be a resource to training managers, A&I managers, and A&I
engineers. It provides information about the programme and its benefits. It also details how to
register and engage with the programme through our unified Learning Management System. If
assistance beyond what is available in the guidebook is needed, the Perkins Service Training team
is always available to assist with questions or comments. The team can be reached at:

Programme structure
We know there are many factors that exist when it comes to the type of engine installation projects
and audits that are required. The level of training, skill, and knowledge an A&I engineer needs can
be directly attributed to this. Factors such as the region/emissions requirements, complexity of the
OEM machine and the volume of machines that will be sold all impact the level of testing and audit
that are needed. We have structured the training programme into five different modules that align
with these factors.

Once you’ve entered the A&I training programme homepage, you’ll be presented with the five
levels described previously. We do ask that each A&I engineer only register for one of the five
modules that most closely aligns with the types of testing/audits that will be performed within their
role.
