NEEDFUL PREPARATION

IS 44:3 – “FOR I WILL POUR WATER UPON HIM THAT IS THIRSTY,

AND FLOODS UPON THE DRY GROUND: I WILL POUR MY SPIRIT
UPON THY SEED, AND MY BLESSING UPON THINE OFFSPRING:” PS
112:4 – “UNTO THE UPRIGHT THERE ARISETH LIGHT IN
THE DARKNESS: HE IS GRACIOUS, AND FULL OF COMPASSION, AND
RIGHTEOUS.”

I also saw that many do not realize what they must be in order to live in the sight of the
Lord without a high priest in the sanctuary, through the time of trouble. Those who
receive the seal of the living God, and are protected in the time of trouble, must
reflect the image of Jesus fully.
A. A Robe of righteousness

 Matt 5:48 – “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is
perfect.” This is the will of God, that we may be perfect; holy and without
blame. This is the express image of God, Jesus Christ. As in Zechariah 3:4
Joshua is given a new raiment so are we charged now with the words of
Christ, “I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be
rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of
thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou
mayest see.” – Rev 3:18

 Christ, our forerunner, has shown us how to be perfect. HE IS OUR

STANDARD, SET HIGH ABOVE THE WORLD.
He said, “ My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his
work… I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart…
I have kept my Father's commandments, “ –Jhn 4:34; Ps 40:8; Jhn 15:10 This
perfect obedience is the character God wants of us to be able to stand in his
presence!
“When we submit ourselves to Christ the heart is united with His heart; the
will is merged in His will; the mind becomes one with His mind; the thoughts
are brought into captivity to Him; we live His life. This is what it means to
be clothed with the garment of His righteousness.” – ST November 22, 1905,
par. 5

 It is through the process of sanctification that our character is developed!

Being made perfect with every step we take with Christ our guide.
“Never was there a time when Christian men and women, in all walks of life,
were in so great need of clear spiritual eyesight as now. It is not safe to lose
sight of Christ for one moment. His followers must pray, and believe, and
love Him fervently.” – TSB 103.1
“A very thorough work must be done in cleansing the soul temple from its
natural depravity. The Christian must be wide awake to resist the
increeping of a spirit of licentiousness among those who claim to be
sanctified.” TSB 103.2
“At all times and in all places, under any and every circumstance,
transgression is a terrible mistake, a dishonor to God and a curse to
man. We must regard it thus, however fair its guise and by whomsoever it is
committed. As Christ’s ambassador I entreat of you who profess present
truth to promptly resent any approach to impurity, and forsake the society
of those who intimate or breathe an impure suggestion. Loathe these
defiling sins with the most intense hatred.” TSB 104.1

 The parables of the wedding garment, in Matt 22:1-14, in line with the 10
virgins of Matt 25:1-13, is our present truth and calls for utmost attention.
“By the marriage is represented the union of humanity with divinity; the
wedding garment represents the character which all must possess who shall
be accounted fit guests for the wedding. COL 307.1
I saw that many were neglecting the preparation so needful, and were looking to the
time of “refreshing” and the “latter rain” to fit them to stand in the day of the Lord, and
to live in His sight. Oh, how many I saw in the time of trouble without a shelter! They
had neglected the needful preparation, therefore they could not receive the refreshing
that all must have to fit them to live in the sight of a holy God.
Those who refuse to be hewed by the prophets, and fail to purify their souls in obeying the
whole truth, and who are willing to believe that their condition is far better than it really

is, will come up to the time of the falling of the plagues, and then see that they needed to
be hewed and squared for the building. But there will be no time then to do it and no
Mediator to plead their cause before the Father. Before this time the awfully solemn
declaration has gone forth, “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still; and he which is
filthy, let him be filthy still; and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still; and he
that is holy, let him be holy still.”
I saw that none could share the “refreshing,” unless they obtain the victory over every
besetment, over pride, selfishness, love of the world, and over every wrong word
and action. We should, therefore, be drawing nearer and nearer to the Lord, and be
earnestly seeking that preparation necessary to enable us to stand in the battle in the
day of the Lord. Let all remember that God is holy, and that none but holy beings can
ever dwell in His presence. CET 112.2 – CET 113.1
