SPECIFICATION

RATIONALE: In the ever-evolving landscape of education, the ability to read

is a gateway to knowledge, empowerment, and personal
growth. It is with this understanding that we embark on a
Learning and Capacity (LAC) session dedicated to the vital
task of capacitating teachers in the art of teaching beginning
readers. This session serves as a beacon of pedagogical
enlightenment, guiding educators toward the mastery of skills
essential for nurturing strong foundational literacy in young
learners.

The journey of becoming a reader is a transformative

experience that shapes a child's academic trajectory and
shapes their lifelong relationship with learning. This LAC
session is strategically designed to address the multifaceted
challenges that teachers encounter while imparting the critical
skill of reading to their students. As educators, we recognize
that this task is not only about teaching letters and words but
about kindling a lifelong love affair with the written word,
inspiring curiosity, and cultivating critical thinking.

In a diverse and ever-changing classroom landscape, teachers

are presented with an array of unique challenges.
Differentiated learning needs, varied linguistic backgrounds,
and the omnipresence of technology have reshaped the
teaching landscape. This LAC session is a response to these
challenges, offering practical strategies that embrace
inclusivity and adaptability. From understanding the nuances
of phonemic awareness and phonics instruction to fostering
vocabulary acquisition and refining comprehension strategies,
this session provides a comprehensive toolkit for educators to
employ.

Moreover, the session is more than just a mere set of

strategies; it's an exploration of interactive and engaging
teaching techniques that bridge the gap between traditional
instruction and the digital age. We delve into the world of

collaborative learning, interactive technology, and creative

activities that not only capture the attention of young learners
but also cultivate a sense of wonder and exploration.

As teachers, our commitment to professional growth is

unyielding. This LAC session offers a platform for educators to
enhance their teaching practices and refine their pedagogical
approaches. By participating in this session, teachers are not
only investing in their own professional development but also
in the future of their students. The knowledge and skills
acquired here will resonate in classrooms, shaping
generations of capable and enthusiastic readers.

In the subsequent sessions, we will delve deeper into the

intricacies of teaching beginning readers, unveiling evidence-
based practices and innovative techniques that bridge the gap
between foundational literacy and lifelong learning. This LAC
session marks the beginning of a transformative journey – a
journey that empowers educators to light the path of literacy
for the young minds they nurture and guide.

Thus, a LAC session will be conducted for all the teachers of

Dubinan Elementary School to be fully guided in teaching
beginning readers based on the teacher’s needs wherein 15
out of 29 teachers needs this kind of assistance.
Program/Course The objective of this proposal is to outline an effective and
