CLASSIFICATION OF MICROBES

OBJECTIVES:
1.
2.

PROCEDURES:
1. Choose 2 examples of microbes under each classification. Give its biology. 2. Be able to
give its possible benefits and negative impact to humans and the environment. 3. Provide
photos of the microbes. Video is optional.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION:

CONCLUSION:

OBJECTIVES:

1. To be able to give examples of each classification

2. To be able to explain what are their effects to humans and the environment
CLASSIFICATIONS EXAMPLES

1. Algae Giant Kelp and Sea Lettuce

2. Archaea Archaebacteria and Methanogens

3. Bacteria Escherichia Coli (E.Coli) and Salmonella

4. Fungi Mushrooms and Yeasts

5. Multicellular Animal Parasites Ectoparasites and Helminths

6. Protozoa Amoebas and Amoebozoa

7. Viruses Gammaherpesvirus and Mammalian Virus

BENEFITS NEGATIVE IMPACT

Giant Kelp - Acts as a barrier to lessen
the power of the currents and
the waves
Sea Lettuce - with medicinal,
- Emits hydrogen sulfide when
health-promoting effects and
they die, or a poisonous gas
they are rich in nutrients
that can kill humans and
animals

Archaebacteria - Reduces the skin’s pH

- Produces large quantities of
levels
Methanogens methane and can also cause
explosions
- Responsible for the
- Produces trimethyl bismuth
Escherichia Coli methane in the flatulence of

bacterial cells
(E.Coli) Salmonella

- Helps to combat melanoma

- Can infect tissues

conditions and a source of
rich, low calorie fiber and
antioxidants

- Keeps the digestive system

- Can trigger diarrhea and skin

Ectoparasites - Minimizes the negative

Amoebozoa Keratitis)
- Used for feeding and
- Can cause luminal infection
locomotion

Gammaherpesvirus - Boosts mice resistance

Can lead to reproductive failure
Mammalian Virus
- Can provide immunity
- Infects mammalian species
against bacterial pathogens
and vertebrates which are the
natural hosts

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION:

Based on the results above, there are many types of organisms under each
classification. It also shows that each organism has its own strengths and weaknesses.

CONCLUSION:

To conclude, it is important for us to know what kind of organisms lie within each
classification and to have knowledge about what they can do to our bodies and
environment.
