• Visualizes, identifies, classifies and describes half circles and
quarter circles.
• Constructs squares, rectangles, triangles, circles, half-circles, and
quarter circles using cut-outs and square grids.
• Identifies straight lines and curves, flat and curved surfaces in a 3-
dimentional object.
• Identifies shapes/figures that show symmetry in a line.
• Recognizes shapes that can tessellate.
• Determine the missing term/s in a given continuous pattern using
two attributes (any two of the following: figures, numbers, colors,
sizes, and orientations, etc.)
Recall
Line
These lines are called straight lines.

These lines are called curved lines.

2D shapes refer to all those shapes that we can lay on a flat piece of
paper or any mathematical plane.
Square
Half circle Triangles

Circle Quarter circle

Ovals
Rectangles
Let us label the parts of 2-D shapes.

This is the face. All 2-D

shapes have flat faces. This is the corner of the
shape.
Let us label the parts of 2-D shapes.

equal sides. Each side is a
straight line segment.

That circle has no sides.

parts of any
Face pyramid's: apex,
face and base.
Base
Cone
Apex

A cone is a three-dimensional
geometric shape that tapers
smoothly from a flat base to a
point called the apex or vertex.

Flat

Cylinder
Flat
surface A cylinder has 2 flat faces and
1 curved face.
Each of the flat faces of a
Curved cylinder is a circle.

A cube and cuboid has 6 flat faces and 12 straight edges.
Each of the flat faces of a cube is squares and cuboid is a rectangle.
(2 of the faces may be squares.)
Sphere

A sphere does not have edges.

A sphere is completely round,
that is, it has only 1 curved
face. s

symmetry
The line of symmetry divides a figure into two equal
parts. The line of symmetry of a figure may be horizontal,
vertical, or diagonal. Figures with a line of symmetry are said to
be symmetrical.
One line symmetry More than one line symmetry

No line of symmetry

tessellation
Tessellations are designs where a surface is covered with
the same shapes, where there are no gaps or overlaps.
A regular tessellation is a tessellation that is
only made of one shape.
A semi-regular tessellation is a tessellation that has more
than one type of regular polygon. It has the same arrangement
at every common point.
