Fashion designer
Fashion design is the art of applying design, aesthetics, clothing
construction and natural beauty to clothing and its accessories. It is
influenced by culture and different trends, and has varied over time
and place. “A fashion designer creates clothing, including dresses,
suits, pants, and skirts, and accessories like shoes and handbags, for
consumers. He or she can specialize in clothing, accessory, or jewelry
design, or may work in more than one of these areas.
Fashion designers are responsible for creating looks for individual
garments, involving shape, color, fabric, trimming, and more. Fashion
designers attempt to design clothes that are functional as well as
aesthetically pleasing. They consider who is likely to wear a garment
and the situations in which it will be worn, and they work within a
wide range of materials, colors, patterns, and styles.
Illustrator
Fashion illustrators create drawings, sketches, and other forms of art to create
concepts which have not yet been realized. They can work in a wide range of
environments, including fashion houses, design studios, and as freelancers.
Creating designs for garments, fashion accessories, and other apparel with
the use of imaging software programs such as Photoshop.
Sketching drawings using paint, colored pencils, and charcoals.
Bringing a fashion designer’s vision to life through design illustrations
Producing layouts to be used in magazines, commercials, brochures, and
other advertising media
Communicate ideas through various mediums of art, including sketches,
paintings, and digital software
Textile designer
Textile designers create two-dimensional designs that can be used,
often as a repeat design, in the production of knit, weave and printed
fabrics or textile products. Working in both industrial and non-
industrial locations, they often specialize or work in a specialist
context within the textile industry.
Textile designers plan, create, and execute the crafting of original
designs and finished products from textile materials. They devise the
creative concept, sketch drawings and assemble fabric samples and
swatches, and oversee the production of the designs.
Pattern maker
Pattern master is the one whose work entails turning the imaginative
patterns of the fashion designer into reality using conventional
instruments and cutting-edge software. He is a designer who converts
creative ideas into products in the logic of industrial production. In
order to create a final prototype, the pattern maker approaches the
development of the design project by combining traditional methods,
such paper patterns, with the most cutting-edge technologies, like
CAD.
Merchandising
Fashion merchandising can be defined as the planning and promotion of
sales by presenting a product to the right market at the proper time, by
carrying out organized, skillful advertising, using attractive displays, etc.
Merchandising, within fashion retail, refers specifically to the stock
planning, management, and control process. Fashion Merchandising is a
job that is done world- wide. This position requires well-developed
quantitative skills, and natural ability to discover trends, meaning
relationships and interrelationships among standard sales and stock
figures.
