Title: Student-Led Learning: The

Case for a Peer Tutoring Initiative.
II. Introduction:

Peer tutoring program isn't widely known as an actual program within a school but it is

already implemented by students within their classrooms by doing group studyings and

group discussions but I want to further this initiative with the help of our teachers. Often

times, These study groups isn't very inclusive towards all kind of students and some students

have felt that they are left out by their peers. Peer tutoring program could help students to

socialize and improve their academic performance.

III. Need of this study:

A study by Jacobson (2012) found that adolescent friendships with peers are linked to
academic performance. This study shows that when students feel more connected to their
environment it could usually predict good academic performance and they would more likely
to engage in learning. Based on Collegenp (2023) "Interacting with classmates regularly
provides ample opportunities for students to develop and refine their communication skills.
They learn how to express their thoughts and opinions effectively, actively listen to others,
and engage in constructive conversations. These skills are not only valuable in academic
settings but also in future professional endeavors." It is very evident that peer relationships
could largely affect student learning because students could most likely form a bond with
their classmate that they don't really interact with and might form a sense of belonging
within the classroom.

IV. Background:

As we all know school bullying is the most common form of bullying seen in our society but
with latest innovations and ideas, these issues could be prevented. According to several
studies, Peer tutoring program could potentially reduce exclusion, bullying and could help
students to feel the sense of belonging. And based on Education world (2021) "The main
advantage is that it allows students to catch up with the classwork, ask pertinent review
questions, and build friendships." Not only it could help academically, it could also even help
socially.

V. Conclusion:

In conclusion, student-led learning program could potentially help students to improve

themselves, to improve academically and socially by interacting and forming bonds with their
fellow classmates and with the help of their advisers and teachers.
