(Wordwall; Canva, Nearpod, Typeform; Powerpoint, etc.)

c) Share your quiz with us – send the link together with the solutions for the other tasks.

Task 5 – Food and drinks from the English-speaking world – Cooking show

a) Find an interesting and delicious food or drink from an English-speaking country.

b) Explain why it is interesting or important in that culture in a summary of 3-5 sentences.

c) Find its recipe.

d) Make the food or drink in real life.

e) Create a short video or series of photos (in Powerpoint) about your explanation, the
preparation and the process of cooking, baking, etc. Make a cooking show.

f) Extras (costumes from the chosen country, relics, decorations in the background, etc.)
mean extra points.

Task 6 – Differences make the world beautiful

Imagine the following scene: You are at the foot of Uluru in Australia. You are a Scotsman
from Orkney Islands on holiday. You meet a man from Maharashtra, India. Create a dialogue
(150-200 words) between the two people in which they are talking about their culture. Try to
find similarities and differences as well. Include the words below:

Hindu, haggis, bagpipe, British English, Ganesh, traditional music, gulab jamun,
independence, whisky, cricket, castles

Solutions are expected in written form, on a sheet of A4 (printed or handwritten). Audio or


video versions mean extra points.

Task 7 - Festivals and holidays in English-speaking countries.

a) Complete the texts with the missing words from the list below.

c) Create a scrapbook of size A5, with the title of the task on its cover.
d) Copy all the 5 texts into your scrapbook, each on a separate double page. Decorate the
pages with any techniques you find appropriate to the topic and the festivals. Be
imaginative, creative and unique!

The festival of Colours

Holi is an ancient ………………. festival that originated in India and ………………. and is
now celebrated in many places around the world. Holi has a friendly and ………………
spirit, so non-Hindus are often welcomed to join the ………………….

Holi marks the beginning of spring and a celebration of good winning over evil. The date
changes between the end of ……………….. and the middle of March. The …………………
start on the night before Holi, which is called Holika Dahan. In ancient stories, the god Vishna
destroyed a ………………….. evil being, called Holika, through fire. People start collecting
wood several days before so that they can build ……………….., and on Holika Dahan they
meet around them to sing, dance and do other traditional activities.

The next day, called Rangwali Holi everyone goes outside and throws coloured

The Sky Is Your Canvas

Since 1994, this ……………… kite festival held in Zandvlei Nature Reserve raises awareness
and funds for Cape Mental Health. With each kite rising high, dreams take flight, painting the

A Carnical of Ice

Winterlude was created in 1979 to celebrate Canada's ………………. northern culture and

Kawhia Maori Food Festival

This New Zealand food festival has become a day for renewing ……………….. with whanau
and friends and reconnecting with the land and sea, and it is a chance to join the Māori

It is also helping to continue the traditional ways of collecting and cooking food. You'll be

Task 8 – St. Edward’s Crown

Project work. Your last task is to make a maquette of the St.Edward’s Crown. Be creative!
You can use any different materials you find suitable such as matches, clothes, paper, cake,
old books etc. Don’t make it bigger than 40cm and smaller than 15cm. Send to us to display it
on the day of the announcement of results. (20p)
