Plans and prepares production schedules for manufacture of industrial or commercial products: Draws up master

schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or
customer orders. Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations
to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements. Plans and schedules workflow for
each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times. Plans
sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production
workers. Confers with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects. Expedites operations that
delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions. Prepares production reports. May prepare lists of
required materials, tools, and equipment. May prepare purchase orders to obtain materials, tools, and equipment.

Production planners liaise with other production departments and customer account managers, as well as with

Job Description:
Coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment
according to production schedule. Duties include reviewing and distributing production, work, and shipment
schedules; conferring with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates; and
compiling reports on progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and production problems.

Coordinate and implement planning and scheduling of work to include creative design, prepress, printing,
reprographics, bindery and distribution processes to ensure timely delivery of publications and other printed materials
according to customer needs.

Coordinate and maintain accurate production schedule for all operations; devise layouts and production plans with
estimator to ensure jobs are estimated according to optimum methods and processes.

Review all orders, checking for accuracy and completeness, and process and distribute to appropriate areas; prepare
schedules for bluelines and press proofs; adjust schedules in response to production problems, notifying management
and customer services of any changes.

Notify shipping area of rush job orders to be shipped to customers; initiate purchase of specialty papers as required to
meet production schedule.

Communicate jobs requiring quick turnaround to production areas, ensuring accurate processing; ensure overtime
charges included for jobs involving exceptional due dates.
Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions
for management such as productive/non-productive time by work center. Perform other related duties incidental to the
work described herein.

You will advise and support the supply chain function, you will plan all productions programmes from forecasts and
devise bills of materials etc.

You will also lead production meetings on a daily basis and work closely with the manufacturing team. Due to the
nature of the business, it is essential that you have proven experience of Production Planning within a tube
manipulation/fixing environment or from a metal fabrication environment.

Job Description:
The Production Planner will schedule jobs for each month and will also identify customer, location, completion dates
and other customer needs. The individual in the role will also be responsible for communication and job consistency, as
well as modifications for customer scope of work against original job scope.

Other duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
• Establishing production forecast based upon Finance forecast, Sales forecast and history
• Maintaining master schedule to support customer orders and planning bills
• Working with end users to gather forecasting information to ensure material availability to meet requested ship
dates.
• Working with Purchasing Dept. to communicate with suppliers on material availability issues, on-time delivery,
broadcasting, and overall performance
• Maintaining material availability and inventory targets
• Analyzing and rescheduling orders to ensure material availability and inventory levels
• Material planning and master scheduling support of contract manufacturing and third party supply chain
• Resolving discrepancies on orders to resolve invoice mismatch situation
• Coordinating production requirements and changes
• Providing planning/scheduling support for production processes to ensure completion within schedule
• Coordinating the production capacity of contract manufacturers
• Generating long term planning schedules as well as managing short term production changes
• Updating and reporting results monthly
• Communicating capacity concern
• Working with operations to reduce bottlenecks

• Position, adjust, and secure stock material or workpieces against stops, on arbors, or in chucks, fixtures, or
automatic feeding mechanisms, manually or using hoists.

• Select, install, and adjust alignment of drills, cutters, dies, guides, and holding devices, using templates,
measuring instruments, and hand tools.

• Change worn machine accessories such as cutting tools and brushes, using hand tools.

• Make minor electrical and mechanical repairs and adjustments to machines, and notify supervisors when major
service is required.

• Start machines, and turn handwheels or valves to engage feeding, cooling, and lubricating mechanisms.

• Perform minor machine maintenance, such as oiling or cleaning machines, dies, or workpieces, or adding
coolant to machine reservoirs.

• Lay out and examine metal stock or workpieces to be processed in order to ensure that specifications are met.

• Locate and mark workpiece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding
shrinkage, and other component specifications.
• Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, and/or bolt straps, or bolt parts in position for welding or
riveting.

• Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences.
