Topics include Manpower, Capital, Technology Relations, Mutual interaction, Goods and Service
Production, Company, Company types, Industrial company; Productivity: Productivity
management, Labor study, Time study, Labor evaluation, Labor and Wage; Statistics; Quality and
Quality Control; Ergonomics; Facility Planning; Operation Research; use computers in Industrial
Engineering.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the end of this course a student will be able to,
1. Explain basic Industrial Engineering concepts
1.1. Make Industrial Engineering definition..
1.2. Know different definition of IE given by various resources.
2. Depict the history and development of the Industrial Engineering.
2.1. Explain IE chronology.
2.2. Explain IE activities.
2.3. Know important events and people in the IE chronology.
3. Understand the Professional ethics.
4. Understand the Industrial and Systems Engineering concepts,
4.1. Know system concept. .
4.2. Know ISE classification and explain with examples.
4.3. Know ISE activities.
4.4. Know system components.
5. Explain facility location and planning topics.
5.1. Explain facility location and planning definitions.
5.2. Show flow charts with the symbols.
5.3. Use analytical techniques for facility layouts.
6. Explain work measurement topics.
6.1. Use work measurement techniques.
6.2. Calculate standard time.
7. Depict IE topics basically.
7.1. Explain IE topics with the examples.
7.2. Associate IE with its field of study.
8. Prepare theoretical or practical project related to IE topics in groups.
8.1. Prepare a project report suitable for ethical rules and format.
8.2. Present in a class.

Evaluation: Your final grade will be based on the following:
(1) Assignments
(2) Midterm 30%
(3) Quiz (2) and a group Project (10% each) 30 %
(4) Final Exam 40%

Assignments: Assignments are not to be turned in but you will be responsible in exams.
Mid-Terms and Final Exam : The semester test will be administered during the lecture period
on the day indicated in the schedule. You are responsible for the material up to the day of the test.
During the FINAL EXAM you are allowed to use a calculator and two sided 8½" x 11" (A4) sheet
of paper with anything you want written on the paper (you can use both sides of the sheet of paper).
The sheet paper should be prepared with your handwriting.
SCHEDULE

Please note that the topic schedule is only a guide, sometimes we will spend more time on one topic and less on
another. The midterms and final exam times will occur on the dates listed, however, content of these exams may be
altered based on the material covered prior to exam time.
