PETA - Conics in A Cell
PETA - Conics in A Cell
MAIN GOAL:
Students are expected to incorporate and identify conics that are found in their own 3D model
of either a plant or an animal cell.
OBJECTIVES:
This performance task will allow students to:
1. Formulate standard equations and general equations of the conics based on their 3D model.
2. Express their creativity and innovation by using recyclable materials and other forms of art to
show a 3D model of a cell, not limited to creating an edible cell, crocheting or sewing, paper
mache, or 3D drawing.
Note: Styrofoam and clay are discouraged as they are non-biodegradable and will cost more than using
materials that are already available at your home.
PROCEDURE:
1. This is a group work.
2. The documentation/computation of the standard and general equations of each conic must be
typewritten on short bond paper only.
3. Every group must submit their output on the 3rd week of October (October 16 – Monday;
October 20 – Friday)
GRADING:
Students’ grade for this activity will fall under the performance task, which is 45% of their quarter
grade. Students will be evaluated based on the following rubrics:
