MOSQUE - ISLAM
Islam includes both formal devotion and ordinary activities. Muslims are
adherents of Islam. They are monotheistic and want to live in total
surrender to Allah (God in Arabic). The Quran-e-Sharif is Islam's sacred
scripture. Abu Bakr was the first to publish the Quran-e-Sharif in book
form. There are many distinct types of Muslim spaces and places of
worship in Islam; one of the most well-known is the Mosque, which is
utilized by several orders of Islamic people such as Sunnis, Ahmadiyyas,
Shias, Ibadis, Nation of Islam, and Progressive Islam.

Mosques can be ornate, enormous constructions or simple structures.

Sahn is a courtyard surrounded with Riwag arcades. Inside the
courtyard, there are water fountains that represent cleanliness.
Worshippers can wash before entering the Mosque. The minaret is a
building from which the muezzin (a Muslim caller) summons Muslims to
prayer. The minaret towers over the Sahn. Mihrab is an empty arch that

looks towards Mecca. The minbar is where the imam (the person who
conducts prayers in a mosque) preaches and leads prayers. Zulla is the
Sahn's prayer hall. Every Muslim, no matter where they are, prays five
times a day.
BUDDHISM
Buddhism is one of the world's largest religions and
originated 2,500 years ago in India. Buddhists believe
that the human life is one of suffering, and that
meditation, spiritual and physical labor, and good
behavior are the ways to achieve enlightenment, or
nirvana.

JUDAISM
Judaism, one of the world's oldest religions, was founded over
3,500 years ago in the ancient land of Canaan. It is a
monotheistic faith that believes in one God, who is all-knowing,
all-powerful, and eternal. Judaism is centered around the
teachings and laws presented in the Torah, the sacred scripture
of the Jews. With a rich history and diverse practices, Judaism
has significantly contributed to the development of Western
civilization.

Judaism embraces the concept of community and collective

responsibility. Jewish communities, known as synagogues, play
© myjewishlearning.com a crucial role in the religious and social life of Jews. They
serve as places of worship, study, and communal gathering.
Moreover, Judaism encourages its followers to engage in acts
of charity and to help those in need. Tzedakah, the Hebrew
term for charity, is considered a fundamental obligation for
every Jew, highlighting the importance of giving back to
society and helping to alleviate the suffering of others.
SYNAGOGUE
A synagogue is a sacred place of worship where members of the Jewish community
gather to pray, study, and engage in communal activities. It plays a central role in Jewish
religious and cultural life, serving as a focal point for spiritual connection, community
bonding, and intellectual growth. Synagogues can be found in various parts of the world,
representing the diversity of Jewish traditions and practices.
In a synagogue, Jews come together to pray, study the Torah, and celebrate
religious festivals and life-cycle events such as bar/bat mitzvahs and weddings. The main
focal point of a synagogue is the ark, which houses the Torah scrolls. The Torah is the
sacred scripture of Judaism and contains the teachings and laws given to Moses by God.
It is read and studied during worship services, and its importance is reflected in the design
and layout of the synagogue.
Ultimately, a synagogue is much more than just a building; it is a vibrant and
spiritual space that nourishes the faith and bonds of those who gather within its walls. It
continues to play a vital role in preserving Jewish traditions, fostering community
relationships, and providing a place where Jews can find solace, guidance, and
inspiration.

CONFUCIANISM
Confucianism is introduced as an
intellectual and spiritual tradition founded
on Confucius' teachings by discussing its
growth in Chinese history, the Confucian
literature, and the Confucian principles on
self-cultivation and societal harmony.

Confucius (K'ung-fu-Tze, Kong Fuzi, "Master
Kong", l. 551-479 BCE), a Chinese philosopher
of the Spring and Autumn Period (c. 772-476
BCE), created it. Confucius is regarded as one
of the greatest philosophers of the Hundred
Schools of Thought (also known as the
Contention of the Hundred Schools of
Thought), which refers to the time during the
Spring and Autumn Period and Warring States
Period (c. 481-221 BCE) when various
philosophical schools competed for adherents.

PLACE OF WORSHIP © Wikipedia

The place of worship in Confucianism is not a set

place. People who follow this religion prefer to
go to a temple or a religious area.

A Confucius temple or Confucian temple is a

temple dedicated to the worship of Confucius
and the Confucian sages and philosophers in
Chinese folk religion and other East Asian
religions.

They were historically the location of imperial

examination administration in China, Korea,
Japan, and Vietnam, and frequently contained
schools and other learning institutions.

CHRISTIANITY
Christianity is the world's largest religion, with over 2.4 billion followers. It
is a monotheistic religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. Christians
believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the Messiah, who came to Earth to
save humanity from sin.
The central beliefs of Christianity are outlined in the Nicene Creed, which
states that there is one God in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the
Holy Spirit. Christians also believe in the Bible as the inspired word of God.
Christianity has had a profound impact on the world, shaping Western
culture and civilization. It has also been a major force in education,
healthcare, and social welfare.
PLACE OF WORSHIP
Cathedrals are important to Catholics for a number of reasons. First,
they serve as the seat of the bishop, who is the spiritual leader of the
diocese. Second, Catholic cathedrals are places of worship where
Catholics come together to celebrate Mass and other sacraments. They
are also places where Catholics can encounter the beauty and mystery of
God. Third, they are often important cultural and historical landmarks that
reflect the faith and heritage of the Catholic community. In addition to
their religious significance, cathedrals can also be seen as symbols of
hope and resilience.
Overall, cathedrals are important worship places for Catholics because
they provide a space for Catholics to come together to celebrate their
faith, to encounter Jesus Christ, and to learn more about their religion. PHOTO BY JUDGEFLORO
