ACTIVITY 3
FIND MY AVERAGE!
1.Compute the average score in Mathematics of 15 students who obtain the following
scores: 23, 25, 18, 19, 29, 20, 30, 30, 27, 26, 24, 23, 28, 26, and 18.
Activity 4
Compute my mean!
Direction:
• The class will be divided into four groups.
• Each group will be given a task and will work on it for 5 minutes.
• It is expected that the leader must make sure that each member is working and
cooperating in the given task.
• Assign the following in your respective groups:
✓ Leader ✓ Secretary ✓ Presenter
• Show to the students the rules in groupings before going to their respective
groups.
Group 1: Ten students in grade ten class got the following scores in a 50-item
test: 41, 42, 40, 44, 47, 46, 49, 49, 45, and 43. Find the mean score of the
students and interpret the result.
Group 2: The grades in Geometry of 10 students are 87, 84, 85, 85, 86,
90, 79, 82, 78, 76. What is the average grade of the 10 students?
Group 4: Compute the average score in science of 12 students who obtained the
following scores: 19, 12, 18, 13, 16, 17, 18, 20, 20, 16, 15, and 14.
Direction: Consider this situation, if you are going to compute your average grade
from seven subjects and you obtain the following score: 99, 98, 97, 96, 97, 92, and 94.
What is your average grade?

Cook B 20
Cashier 19
Waiter A 18
Waiter B 18
Waitress 18
3. How many persons are older than the mean age? How many are younger?
4. Do you think this is the best measure of central tendency to use? Explain.
Answer Key:
1. 23
2. none
3. one person older the mean and 6 persons younger the mean.
4. Yes because mean is used when we are looking the average of data set.
