Doll House

I. Introduction

The introduction of the movie is there was a young woman arrived at a rehabilitation center to
find her father named Rustin (The main character). But the main introduction of the movie was
Rustin used to live at Rotterdam and married Sheena, but one day Rustin leaves her wife and
returned to Philippines and never came back. Rustin was a drug addict and an irresponsible
husband, he is a band singer and always do gigs. One day after the live band, the band members
was having a after party and they are doing drugs, drinking alcohols, and smoking cigarettes. And
then when all of them was drunk, his friend Diego told him that he was ready to die, that if you
still are not ready to die then you have some “unfulfilled lives”. Later that day, his friend Diego
died through overdose. And after that tragedy he decides to return to Rotterdam for him to seek
his unfulfilled life.

II. What’s the movie all about

The movie was all about an irresponsible and a drug addict father who came back after 8 years to
fulfill and rekindle the relationship he never had with his long-lost daughter. Despite on bad
records and scandals he made, he was still able to become the best father for her daughter. And
for temporary time, he was still able to put a smile on his daughter’s face.

III. Moral Lessons

The moral lesson in the movie was “parents also fail”. Everyone is not perfect, nobody is perfect.
Just like Rustin Clyde he is flawed and he did some bad things in the past. But that doesn’t stop
him from being a good father to his daughter. He still fulfilled her daughter with joy and love
without revealing himself that he is the true father of Yumi. Even an evil person can be turned
into a good for his daughter.

IV. Conclusion

The movie Doll House was a good and heartbreaking movie as it ends with Rustin being
comatose and doesn’t remember everything about Yumi. The only thing he remember is the doll
house that she was supposed to give on his so called best friend and that was Yumi, he still
remember that Yumi was not good in singing. (Sintonado). The movie started with Rustin being a
drug addict and a bad guy. He used to take drugs, alcohols, and cigars. He was a bad son, a bad
father, and a bad husband. The exposition of the movie made me think of what is the upcoming
climax, but through the goodness of the movie I can’t guess what will be the upcoming climax.
When Rachelle find out that it was him (Rustin) she then prevents Rustin from visiting Yumi
again, but through Yumi who escape in their house and visit her so called tito Clyde (Rustin) I
then believed that time will make way to choose your own path and decides what your future will
be. In conclusion, the movie made an impact in me as it showcase the will of a person to change.
