projection for the actual range?

A ball is thrown vertically upwards with a velocity of 20m/s from the top of a multi-
storeyed building. The height of the point from where the ball is thrown is 25m from
the ground. (g= 10 m/sec2)
(i)How high will the ball rise?
(ii)How long will it be before the ball hits the ground?
(iii)Trace the trajectory of this ball.
25.An aeroplane requires for take-off a speed of 80 km/hr, the run on the ground being 100
m. The mass of the aeroplane is 104 kg and the co efficient of friction between plane and
the ground is 0.2. Assume that the plane accelerates uniformly during the take-off. What

29.(a) What do you mean by banking of a curved road?
(b)Derive an expression for velocity of a car on a banked circular road having
coefficient of friction µ.Hence write the expression for optimum velocity and angle of
banking.
(c)A circular road of radius 300 m is banked at an angle of15 °. If the coefficient of
friction between the wheels of a race car and the road is 0.2, then what is the optimum
speed of the race car to avoid wear and tear on its tyres.

(a)What do you mean by friction? Discuss about static friction, limiting friction,
kinetic friction and rolling friction. Show how the force of friction varies with
applied force F.
(b)A mass of 4 kg rests on a horizontal plane. The plane is gradually inclined until at an
angle θ=15° with the horizontal, the mass just begins to slide. What is the coefficient of
static friction between the block and the surface?
30.Projectile Motion
Projectile motion is a form of motion in which an object or particle is thrown with
some initial velocity near the earth’s surface and it moves along a curved path under
the action of gravity alone. The path followed by a projectile is called its trajectory,
which is shown below. When a projectile is projected obliquely, then its trajectory is
as shown in the figure below.

Here velocity u is resolved into two components, we get

(a) u cosθ along OX and (b) u sinθ along OY.

(i)What will be the acceleration of the object in horizontal direction?


(ii) What will be the vertical component of velocity at the highest point H?

(iii) A particle is projected at an angle 45° . What will be the relation between
horizontal range and maximum height attained by the particle?

Or
A body is projected with a velocity of 30 m/sec at an angle of 60° with vertical.
Find the maximum height and horizontal range.

COLLISION BETWEEN TRUCK ANDCYCLIST


A cyclist of mass 60 kg (along with the cycle) is riding a bicycle with speed
10km/h on the road as shown in the figure. A truck of mass103 kg moving with
high speed 120km/h strikes the cyclist from his back. Consider the collision of
truck and cycle is head on elastic collision.

(i)In elastic collision, which factors are conserved?


(ii)For a perfectly inelastic collision, what will be the relative velocity of separation?
(iii)a body of mass 4 kg moving with velocity 12 m/sec collides with another body of
mass 6kg at rest. If the two bodies stick together after collision, then how much kinetic
energy loss by the system?
Or
A moving block having mass m, collides with another stationary block having mass
4m. The lighter block comes to rest after collision. If the initial velocity of the lighter
block is v, then what will be the value of coefficient of restitution (e)?
