Students are often very hungry again by

snack time.

Literacy Writing

We will be reading books that go along with our

theme. In our leveled literacy centers we are
focusing on 1:1 match of words when tracking.
We are also reviewing our sight words.
Sight Words: in, did, am, at, it, the, is, and,
can, my, me, we, she, he
In phonics we will be working on that -at family
of words, including CVC words with the short a
sound: cat, sat, rat, bat, at, that, mat, vat, etc.
With assistance, students will write the
beginning sounds they hear in a word. We are
doing many activities sounding out CVC words.
Cat, hat, dog, bed, kid, cut are examples of
consonant, vowel, consonant words.

Math Theme-Bats

We will be finding and describing flat shapes.

Children will be able to explain how to know
what type of shape they have found by using
descriptive vocabulary.
We will learn about bats. We will label their
body parts, discuss the various bat breeds, and
compare them to birds. We will incorporate our
theme into math and literacy activities. We will
read several fiction and nonfiction books on the
topic. Children will work on taking notes and
labeling.
