Course Learning Outcomes (CLO):

1. Perform language arts-based activities related to visual arts, musical arts and performing

arts (P3, A2, PLO3, PLO5, KMK19)

2. Review reading materials related to visual arts, musical arts and performing arts (C5, PLO2,

KKG3)

3. Produce a written creative language work integrating forms of arts using digital media (C6,

A1, PLO2, PLO6, KKG5, KMD2)

This continuous assessment evaluates Learning Outcomes 1, 2 and 3.

Continuous Assessment Objectives:

To enable students to:

1. Design and perform a language arts-based activity related to visual arts, musical arts and

performing arts.

2. Review relevant reading materials and prepare a sketch note folio through read and sketch.

3. Produce a written creative cento poetry and present it using digital media.

CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT

The tasks seek to focus on developing


language skills through arts-based
activities related to visual arts, musical
arts and performing arts. The rationale
is to enable TESL students to practise
and demonstrate their ability to use
language skills creatively not only in
classrooms, but also in diverse
contexts by providing opportunities for
them to learn the language through
hands-on arts activities.

Tasks 1, 2 and 3 adopt the Big Idea: Global Educators in Merging English Language and

Arts.

Students are required to complete the following tasks:

TASK 1: PERFORMANCE (30%)

1. Design a performance based on all of the following art forms:

a) visual arts

b) musical arts

c) performing arts

2. Perform your final work in class.

3. The duration of the performance should be between 25 to 30 minutes.

TASK 2: SKETCH NOTE FOLIO (30%)

1. Choose three suitable reading materials related to visual arts, musical arts and performing

arts, and English language.

2. Provide evidence of reading by highlighting or annotating the main ideas found in the

articles.

3. Present the contents of the three articles in the form of three sketch notes.

4. Review the suitability of the materials in enhancing your knowledge of visual arts, musical

arts and performing arts.

5. Submission of the sketch note folio should consist of:

 Compilation of the three reading materials related to visual arts, musical arts and

performing arts, and English language

 Three sketch notes

 A 300-word review on the suitability of the materials in developing your knowledge

about visual arts, musical arts and performing arts.

Task 3: MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION KIT (40%)

A cento poetry is a work of poetry that is composed of various lines taken from different poems,
articles, newspaper advertisements or even pop songs. The word “cento” is derived from Latin
word meaning “patchwork garment” and a cento poem is just that patchwork poetry (also known
as a collage poem).

1. Create and produce a cento poetry.

2. Design a multimedia presentation kit which should consist of the following:

 A cento poetry

 A recitation of the cento poetry using any forms of graphics and creative digital media

(Submitted in the form of a video uploaded into your open access Google Drive)

 A copy of the three original texts

3. The guidelines are as the following:

 Produce a cento poetry using lines taken from 3 different texts of your choice. Do not

use all the words in the texts chosen.

 Highlight the words taken from the three texts.

 It is compulsory to have a minimum of 20 lines and the length of each line can vary.

 Choose any form of stanza organization.

Detailed requirements for continuous assessment:

1. No duplication of assignments from other work is allowed.

2. Plagiarism in any form will not be tolerated. Plagiarized work will be penalised by:

a. The issuance of a formal show-cause letter

b. 0 mark.

3. Cite the source of the text and any references using the latest American Psychological

Association (APA). Referencing is part of the assessment.

4. Please adhere to the deadlines. Without an approved extension of time, late submissions

will be penalised by:

a. The issuance of a formal show-cause letter

b. A 2-mark deduction per day.

5. Your type-written work should follow the following format:

 font style Arial

 size 12

 2.0 line spacing

 bottom centre page numbering

6. Page margins should be as the following:

 Left, right, top and bottom – 2.5 cm

 Header and footer – 1 cm

7. The cover page should include the following information:

 Name

 Index number

 Identity card number

 Class / Group

 Course code and course name

 Submission date
