In this project we have learnt that to operate/use the CISCO packet tracer.
Our concept of ADVANCED COMPUTER NETWORKS was also made
clear through this project.

1.0 Rationale
After the completion of the project, we completely understood the
concept of Cisco packet Tracer. We have understood the concept of project and
how to use it in solving real world problems.

2.0 Aim / Benefits of the Micro-Project

Aim: Configure cisco Wi-Fi router using packet tracer on a network.

Benefits:

• We implemented networking using Cisco packet Tracer.

• We learnt how to Cisco packet Tracer and get desired output to
the user.
• Our concept of ACN was made clear through this project.

3.0 Course Outcomes Achieved

4.0 Literature Review

Cisco Packet Tracer:
The main purpose of Cisco Packet Tracer is to help students learn the principles
of networking with hands-on experience as well as develop Cisco technology
specific skills. Since the protocols are implemented in software only method,
this tool cannot replace the hardware Routers or Switches. Interestingly, this
tool does not only include Cisco products but also many more networking
devices.

Engineers prefer to test any protocols on Cisco Packet Tracer before

implementing them. Also, Engineers who would like to deploy any change in
the production network prefer to use Cisco Packet Tracer to first test the

required changes and proceed to deploy if and only if everything is working as

expected.

WHAT IS WIFI ROUTER:

A wireless router is a device that performs the functions of a router and also
includes the functions of a wireless access point. It is used to provide access to
the Internet or a private computer network. Depending on the manufacturer and
model, it can function in a wired local area network, in a wireless-only LAN, or
in a mixed wired and wireless network.

Steps to configure cisco Wi-Fi router using a packet tracer on a
network.

Step1 – Open Cisco Packet Tracer.

Step2 – Drag and Drop 2 PC, 1 Laptop, 2 Routers and 1 Switch.

Step3 – Connect Router to Switch and Switch to PC using Straight

wire and Wireless router to Laptop. Connect Wireless router to

Router.

Step4 – Configure the PC

1. Click on PC 0 & go to Desktop

2. Then Click on IP Configuration & set IP address
3. Similarly, do for all the PC’s & set IP address

Step 5 – Configure the Router

1. Configuration of GigabitEthernet0/0
a. Click on the Router & go to Desktop
b. Select interface GigabitEthernet0/0
c. Set IP Address and Subnet Mask for the Router

2. Configuration of GigabitEthernet0/1
a. Click on the Router & go to Desktop

b. Select interface GigabitEthernet0/1

c. Set IP Address and Subnet Mask for the Router

Step 6 – Configure Wireless Router

1. Click on the Wireless Router & go to configuration
2. Select Internet interface
3. Give IP Address of Router as Default Gateway for Wireless
Router

Step 7 – Configuration of Laptop

1. Click on Laptop & go to Desktop
2. Set IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway

Step 8 – To check whether the data is sent properly from one device
to another
1. Click on PC0 & go to Command Prompt
2. Write Ping command and IP address of Laptop and click enter
3. Data is sent successfully
