This course is designed to further develop the learner's confidence and fluency in using the English language
and to enrich their learning experience through interactive lessons and communicative exercises.

Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:


- Skim for gist & scan for details
- Identify sentences functions, Identify topics & main ideas, Identify supporting details
- Recognize patterns of cohesion: cause/effect, compare/contrast, problem/solution, Understand cohesion in
description.
- Apply different methods to Increase fluency, and tolerance ambiguity in reading
- Understand text references to visuals, Interprete the information is visuals
- Recognize and interprete statements of opinion, and fact
- Make strong inferences and avoid weak ones, Distinguish between deliberate implications and direct
statement.
- Identify and evaluate evidence, recognize and deal with faulty rhetoric
- Understand multiple perspectives, Evaluate the credibility and motives of sources
- Recognize and understand definitions within a text, Work with classifications

Students are also expected to:


- Be cooperative, supportive, and responsible in group work. Be able to desomontrate lateral and critical
thinking. Be professsional in demonstrating academic presentation and writing.
- Take advantages of online applications, language labs, and online platforms in performing learning tasks
Be ethic and adhere to plagiarism rules in performing learning tasks. Be an active reader in acquiring and
selecting knowledge

- Attend more than 80% of contact hours in order to be accepted to the final examination
- Actively participate in class activities
- Fulfil tasks given by intructor after class

b) Each part of final exam must be >0.
- If FE < 4/10, student must take resit exam (all parts);
- If have a) but not b), student must take resit exam for the failed parts only
