"In the world of disaster response, the greatest resource is not in our hands; it's in our
heads – knowledge and readiness." – Max Mayfield

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) training is an important aspect
of ensuring preparedness and resilience in the face of natural or man-made disasters.
Our school, Cebu Doctors’ University, offered a recent participation of DRRM training
session as a part of the NSTP – CWTS program, which included several trainings for
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), bandaging, rope rappelling, and rescuing. It
provided extremely useful insights into the significance of these components. Thus, this
reading gives importance to each component in improving our ability to respond
appropriately to situations while also reflecting on the training experiences.

As a medical student, our participation in the DRRM training session was enlightening
since it highlighted the value of being ready and able to recover in the case of
emergencies. The instruction included a variety of important aspects, each of which
improved our ability to react appropriately. Among them, CPR instruction stood out as a
crucial component of DRRM readiness, highlighting the necessity of prompt action in
cardiac situations. Also, the bandage training part was covered to explain the
fundamentals of first aid, repeating the point that we are not just spectators in
emergencies but are also able to provide rapid treatment to stop infection, stop bleeding,
and stabilize wounds. In addition, my skill set was widened by the addition of rope
rappelling and rescue training, emphasizing adaptability and problem-solving in disaster
response. Together, these elements have greatly improved my state of readiness and
resilience, which has enhanced my commitment to helping ensure my community's
safety and well-being in times of disaster. All things considered, this program highlighted
that readiness and resilience are not simply personal choices but obligations we owe to
ourselves and our fellow people, creating a sense of duty and shared unity.

In conclusion, my recent participation in a DRRM training session has been a revelation,

emphasizing the roles as a medical student in disaster response. This experience has
given me essential life-saving skills as well as a sense of accountability and a desire to
serve my community. It serves as a sharp reminder that, in the face of tragedy, being
prepared and resilient are important obligations we have to ourselves and our fellow
people.

Good day, Miss Abby! In the next pages
