Chennai International Airport seeks master retail

concessionaire
INDIA. Airports Authority of India (AAI) has issued a tender seeking a master concessionaire to design, build,
finance and run 1,000sq m of retail space at Chennai International Airport.

The concession will run for seven years. Rent will be the higher of a minimum monthly guarantee of Rs11.88
million (US$178,000) with an annual compound escalation or a 20% share of monthly sales, whichever is
higher.

The opportunity covers 12 store locations around both domestic and international terminals and features most
major categories with the exception of liquor (the key category in India duty free).

The airport company seeks a partner to manage a range of categories across Chennai Airport’s
domestic and international terminals

The tender was first advertised in March with a deadline of today (27 April) though we understand AAI may
offer an extension.

Chennai Airport handled 18.3 million passengers in its 2016/17 fiscal year, of which 5.2 million were
international.
