We will be using elongated stitches to create the cables that make up the honeycomb
pattern. When indicated, you will knit a stitch and wrap the yarn around twice before
pulling the needle through before pulling the needle through. The following row, you will
sleep these double-wrapped stitches, allowing one of the wraps to fall, creating an
elongated stitch. On the next row, these elongated stitches will be used to create the
cables. Video Tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSWtJeQ96hs
Gauge
16 sts x 22 rows in the cabled pattern
Size
Approximately 9" tall, 23.5" around the brim
Instructions
Using the 16" circular needles, cast on 70 stitches using a long tail cast on. I suggest using one
needle size larger for the cast on to avoid a tight brim. Join in the round, placing a marker to
indicate the BOR.
Work a 1x1 ribbing for 10 rows or until the brim reaches your desired length.
Kitchener stitch the remaining 10 stitches. Weave in ends and block. Glossary
