1. Recognized the nature and goals of plant breeding, plant introduction and domestication, as well as the reproductive systems in plant breeding methods
2. Demonstrated the breeding methods with self and cross pollinated crops;
3. Recognized the genetic basis of breeding self and cross pollinated crops;
4. Performed and developed skill in breeding. for disease resistance and mutation breeding;
5. Planned for the distribution and maintenance of improved varieties ; and,
6. Understood the practices in interspecific hybridization
COURSE SYLLABUS
COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is designed to provide students with the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes on the principles of inheritance, selection, breeding
methods, genetic bases of breeding self and cross pollinated crops, breeding for disease resistance, mutation breeding as well as interspecific
hybridization of plants and finally the distribution and maintenance of improved varieties.
