Simple present tense verbs
often follow spelling rules
Use the forms below for third person singular
(he, she, and it).
Use the base form of the verb for all other forms.
For most verbs, add -s
look he looks need it needs
want she wants help it helps
use it uses like he likes
work she works follow she follows
ask he asks tie he ties
For verbs that end in -ch, -sh, -s, -x, -z, or -o, add -es.
fix she fixes wash she washes
reach it reaches buzz it buzzes
kiss he kisses go he goes

For verbs that end with vowel + y, add -s.


play he plays buy he buys
enjoy she enjoys destroy it destroys
obey it obeys stay she stays

For verbs that end with consonant + y, change -y to -i and add -es.
study she studies bury it buries
cry it cries worry he worries
carry he carries copy she copies
