Agrispread – Special Instructions to calibrate hydraulic drive Spreaders

The Agrispread AS55-C, AS85C and AS100-C (730 Chain models)

In order to put out the required tonnage, the user needs to:

a) set the floor speed and;

b) the door opening height;

in relation to the tractor forward speed.

For application rates between 400kg and 4,500kg per hectare, the door opening height is
determined from the Medium Gear Rate charts in the operator’s manual. For application rates
between 4,500kg and 10,000kg per hectare the door opening height is determined from the
High Gear Rate charts in the operator’s manual.

How to use Rate Charts to determine the Door opening height:

Step 1: Find the material density by using the Agrispread density metre as described in the
operator’s manual. See page 15

Step 2: When you have the density of the material, go to the appropriate density chart. The
density is shown on each chart on the top left hand side of the chart

e.g. Material density Cu. Metre = 1.0

Step 3: The rate charts are given in Kg per hectare. Once the rate required is known, scroll
down the left hand column to find the required Rate.

e.g. Rate required is 4000kg (Please use High Gear Rate Chart - page 45 for the purposes of
this example)

Step 4: The width is given along the top column and is given in metres. Once the required
width is known, scroll along the top column to required width.

e.g. Width required 12 metres

Step 5: This is a combination of step 4 and step 5. Scroll across the “x axis” and scroll down
the “y axis” until both meet. The measurement that both lines cross is the door opening height
required in millimetres.

Rate required for 4000kg per hectare, width required is 12 metres, door opening = 279mm.
How to set the Floor Speed:

Agrispread AS55-C, AS70-C, AS85-C and AS100C (730 Chain Models)

The charts below give the Rear Roller R.P.M setting for a given speed. The more level the
ground the faster you can travel. For example, if you are able to travel at 10 kilometres per
hour and you have obtained your settings from the High Gear Rate Chart, the Rear roller
should be set to 9 R.P.M.

How to use these charts:

Example: Using a AS85-C Tonne (730 chain models)

Material being spread: Lime

Required kg per Hectare is: 4000kg

Spread width: 12 Metres.

Density: 1.0
1 The first step is to go to the operating manual for the spreader and find the door
opening height for the rate required. In this case it will be 279 mm as explained
above.

2 Set the spinner speed to 500 rpm before setting the floor speed.

3 The next step is to pick a ground speed that suits the surface being travelled on. For
example if we choose 10 km/h then our rear roller will need to be turning 9
revolutions per minute. See calibration chart above for this setting.

When you turn on the clock there is a main display. On this clock there are 2 channels.
Channel one is indicated by the mark displaying above it. If the display is showing channel 2
then the mark will be above the 2.

We have calibrated channel one to be the spinner speed. This is a 1:1 ratio, so if it reads
400 then that is 400 rpm on the spinners.

We have calibrated channel two to read the floor speed.

NB: The ratio on this is different to channel one. If the display on channel two reads 10, then
this means 1 rpm. If the display reads 15, then this means 1.5rpm. The reason for doing this
is that you can now set the floor to a very accurate speed.
