How to create your

very own Millennium
Falcon
Need to know
6 Jun 2018 | 3 min read

With SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY in cinemas now,

Millennium Falcon fever is back! If you feel inspired to get
your craft on, why not try making this Cardboard Box
Office-style Millennium Falcon?

Instructions

You will need:

2 large pieces of cardboard - A3 should do the trick

4 paper plates
1 cardboard tube
PVA crafting glue
Craft knife or scissors (all cutting should be done by
an adult)
Pencil
Light grey paint - acrylic is recommended
Paintbrush

Step one

Trace around a paper plate and from that circle create a

teardrop-like shape. Carefully cut out this shape and use it
to trace around to create three more identical shapes. You
should now have four in total.

Step two

Glue the four teardrop-like shapes on top of one another

to create a thick base.

Step three

Slice the cardboard tube at an angle about a quarter of the

way down.

Step four

Turn the sliced end of the tube around and glue it an angle
to the longer piece. Then slice out two strips along the
longer section, the same width as the height of the base
you created earlier.

Step five

Slide the tube over the base and glue it into place.

Step six

Cut a small half circle from each of the four paper plates to
fit around the tube and glue the plates onto the base (two
on the top of the base, two on the underside).

Step seven

From your remaining cardboard, cut out two strips, two

circles, and a wedge and glue these onto the top of the
base to create the top structure of the Falcon. (See
picture 11 to see how they should be arranged.)

Step eight

To create the cockpit, slice off the upper half of the end of
the tube.

Step nine

Slice the removed piece of tube into various strips and

glue to the tube to make the cockpit windows.

Step ten

Cut out a few strips of cardboard the same width as the

base height and glue around the edge of the Falcon.
Nearly there…

Step eleven

Now paint! Before starting, lay down some newspaper and

perhaps put on some protective clothing, as this can get
messy! Carefully apply a layer of light grey to get that
iconic Millennium Falcon look.

Step twelve

After the paint has dried, use a pencil to draw various

lines, squares, and circles to add some detail to the
exterior of the Falcon. Smudging the pencil makes
realistic-looking blast scars!

Step thirteen

SMEs, here's how to truly stand out

Focus on business

There were a record number of small

businesses started during the pandemic; the
'Shop Local' advice of each lockdown has grown
into shoppers' preferred buying method; and
last Black Friday witnessed the boycotting of
some of the world's biggest brands - including
Amazon - with many independent retailers
donating to charity and planting trees as part of
a renewed drive against consumerism. All this
has meant one thing for SMEs: growth. But this
growth also means the competition is higher
than ever.
