ACTIVITY
Description LAC session is a helpful means to discuss concerning learning materials development. It has
proven to be effective in engaging a group of teachers in collaborating and solving shared
challenges most especially today, using adaptive teaching strategies in the New Normal.

Objective This LAC Session intends to tackle the key components on learning materials development
specifically on reading.
Moreover, it aims to capacitate colleagues on the execution of the Learning Exemplar.

HIGHLIGHTS 1.Day 1: Consultative Discussion on the Preparation of the Reading Materials and
Other concerns
The activity was facilitated by Ms. Kristin Love J Layague, the Master
Teacher of G9 together with the Key Teacher, Ms. Jhonalyn P. Gonza.

The activity aims to consult the incoming Grade 9 Teachers of the possible
number of learners who will have difficulty in reading and comprehension
given the fact that the learners were in the transition from having modular or
online to actual face to face learning delivery mode.

Teachers decided to conduct a reading test (one-on-one to properly gauge


the learner’s capacity to read and most specifically, to understand and
comprehend.

The G9 teachers decided to allot 10 mins. of the class’s 1st 2 weeks for the
monitoring and assessment of reading comprehension.

2.Day 2

After the thorough conduct of reading assessment, the teachers prepared for
the reading material suited for the learners. MacGinitie Comprehension test were
given to the learners to validate the one-on-one monitoring.
A list of learners was then submitted to the reading coordinator for proper
assessment.

3. Day 3. Teachers localize reading materials and continuous monitoring


spearheaded by the master teacher and the key teacher. G9 teachers discuss
possible materials that will be helpful for the learners.

Feedback sharing was also encouraged as to improve the delivery of the service.

submitted to the key teacher before the
start of the class.

Day 2: Actual Conduct of Reading


Assessment to Learners

Each teacher conducted a one-on-one


reading assessment to gauge each learners
their level of comprehension.

Reporting and Discussion on the result of the reading assessment conducted by the Grade 9
Teachers.
Day 3: Giving of task on the localization of Reading materials to teachers.
