1. Presentation noun /ˌprez.ənˈteɪ.ʃən/ 1. a talk giving information about something:


The speaker gave an interesting presentation on urban transport.
2. a talk to a group in which information about a new product, plan, etc. is presented:
give/make/do a presentation I made a presentation to the board, but sadly it was rejected.
2. Enhance verb /ɪnˈhɑːns/ =to improve the quality, amount, or strength of something:
These scandals will not enhance the organization's reputation.
3. Illustrate verb /ˈɪl.ə.streɪt/ = 1.to draw pictures for a book, magazine, etc.:
a beautifully illustrated book/old manuscript
2. to show the meaning or truth of something more clearly, especially by giving examples:
illustrate something with something The lecturer illustrated his point with a diagram on the blackboard.
4. Outline noun /ˈaʊt.laɪn = 1.the main shape or edge of something, without any details:
She drew the outline of the boat and then coloured it in.
2. a description of the main facts about something:
If you read the minutes of the meeting, they'll give you a broad outline of what was discussed.
5. Purpose noun /ˈpɜː.pəs/ =why you do something or why something exists:
The purpose of the research is to try to find out more about the causes of the disease.

6. sum (something/someone) up phrasal verb =to describe or express the important facts or
characteristics about something or someone:
The best way of summing up the situation in our office is to say that it is "absolute chaos".
sum (something/someone) up by saying I'd just like to sum up by saying that it's been a tremendous pleasure
to work with you.
7. Feature noun /ˈfiː.tʃər/=a typical quality or an important part of something:
The town's main features are its beautiful mosque and ancient marketplace.
Our latest model of phone has several new features.
8. Audience noun /ˈɔː.di.əns/ =the group of people together in one place to watch or listen to a play,
film, someone speaking, etc.:
She lectures to audiences all over the world.
The secret to public speaking is to get the audience on your side.
9. Address verb /əˈdres/ =to speak or write to someone:
He addressed a few introductory remarks to the audience.
He likes to be addressed as "Sir" or "Mr Partridge".
10. A mission statement is a concise explanation of an organization's reason for existence and describes
its purpose, intention and overall objectives.
11. head office noun /ˌhed ˈɒf.ɪs/ =the most important office of an organization or company, or the
people working there:
Paul was transferred to our head office in Chicago.
Head office have asked for a report.
12. Turnover noun/ˈtɜrnˌoʊ·vər/ =the rate at which employees leave a company and are replaced:
The high turnover among daycare workers is an ongoing problem.
13. Profit noun =money that is earned in trade or business after paying the costs of producing and
selling goods and services:
She makes a big profit from selling waste material to textile companies.
A year ago the Tokyo company had a pretax profit of 35 million yen.
14. Advertise verb /ˈæd.və.taɪz/ =to make something known generally or in public, especially in order to
sell it:
We advertised our car in the local newspaper.
15. Promote verb /prəˈməʊt/ =to encourage people to like, buy, use, do, or support something:
Advertising companies are always having to think up new ways to promote products.
16. Familiar adjective/fəˈmɪl·jər/= easy to recognize because previously experienced:
familiar sights
a familiar face
