ugraṃ vīram mahāviṣnum

jvalantaṃ sarvatōmukhaṃ
nṛsiṃhaṃ bhiṣaṇaṃ bhadraṃ
mṛtyumṛtyuṃ namāmyaham
Sri Narasimha Prayer for Protection from fear and anxiety
This prayer was offered by Bhakta Prahlada to his beloved Lord Narasimha.

I offer my respectful obeisances unto Lord

oṁ namo bhagavate narasiṁhāya Nṛsiṁhadeva, the source of all power.

namas tejas-tejase āvir-āvirbhava Please be fully manifest.

vajra-nakha vajra-daṁṣṭra O my Lord who possesses nails and teeth just like
thunderbolts,
karmāśayān randhaya randhaya tamo
Kindly vanquish our demon-like desires to be happy by
grasa grasa oṁ svāhā; material activities.

abhayam abhayam ātmani bhūyiṣṭhā Please appear in our hearts and drive away our
ignorance so that by Your mercy we may become
oṁ kṣraum fearless in the struggle for existence in this material
world.

नमस्ते नरस िंहाय
प्रह्लादाह्लाद-दासयने
सहरण्यकसिपोर्वक्षः -
सिला-टङ्क-नखालये
इतो नृस िंहः परतो नृस िंहो
यतो यतो यासम ततो नृस िंहः
बसहनृवस िंहो हृदये नृस िंहो
नृस िंहमासदिं िरणिं प्रपद्ये
तर् करकमलर्रे
नखमद् भुत-शृङ्गिं
दसलतसहरण्यकसिपुतनुभृङ्गम्
केिर् धृतनरहरररूप
जय जगदीि हरे
namas te narasiḿhāya
prahlādāhlāda-dāyine
hiraṇyakaśipor vakṣaḥ
śilā-ṭańka-nakhālaye
ito nṛsiḿhaḥ parato nṛsiḿho
yato yato yāmi tato nṛsiḿhaḥ
bahir nṛsiḿho hṛdaye nṛsiḿho
nṛsiḿham ādiḿ śaraṇaḿ prapadye
tava kara-kamala-vare
nakham adbhuta-śṛńgaḿ
dalita-hiraṇyakaśipu-tanu-bhṛńgam
keśava dhṛta-narahari-rūpa
jaya jagadīśa hare.
I offer my obeisances to Lord
Narasimha, who gives joy to
Prahlada Maharaja, and whose
nails are like chisels on the stone
like chest of the demon
Hiranyakasipu
Lord Nrsimha is here and also
there. Wherever I go Lord Nrsimha
is there. He is in the heart and is
outside as well. I surrender to Lord
Nrsimha, the origin of all things and
the supreme refuge
O Kesava! O Lord of the universe! O
Lord Hari, who have assumed the
form of half-man, half-lionl All
glories to You! lust as one can easily
crush a wasp between one's
fingernails, so in the same way the
body of the wasp like demon
Hiranyakasipu has been ripped
apart by the wonderful pointed
nails on Your beautiful lotus hands.
