Dramatic Structure/Plot:

Exposition:

Three men receive a call about the death of a woman named Joy Manawari. The three men were
once friends; they go to the police station for interrogation as they were the last contacted by Joy
before her death.

In the flashback, the three men were introduced. Anthony, a gay son of a military man; Emman, a
humble guy from province; and Hector, an aspiring art student. They bond together so well and
promise each other to become successful.

Their professor, Prof. Banlaoi, introduces them to a jolly merienda seller, Joy. She invites them to eat
at her Aunt Dely’s canteen. After their meal, Andre shows up wanting to break up with Joy because
he was suspicious of Joy’s relationship with Prof. Banlaoi. As a result, Joy was comforted by Hector.

Complications:

As time went by, these three friends become closer to Joy. Anthony confides in her, Emman receiving
help from her and soon, Hector confessing his love for her then started dating. To celebrate their
upcoming graduation, they decide to go on a ‘joy ride’ to Antipolo.

And there, they promised each other to stay in touch even after they’ve finally achieve their dreams.

Climax:

Their happiness was shortened when a group of thugs interrupted them. The three guys were
threatened by a gun as Joy was raped right in front of their eyes, watching helplessly.

Resolution:

As years go by, Joy solely provides for her aunt and her daughter, Ligaya. She supports them
financially by delivering drugs coming from Banlaoi. When she tries to break connection with
Banlaoi, he threatens to kill her.

Back at the present, Anthony, Emman and Hector go on with their lives. Joy persistently tries to
reach them but they all avoided her calls.

At the morgue, Dely rejects Banlaoi help and was disgusted by how Banlaoi still wants to control Joy
even though she’s dead. Afterwards, she tells Anthony, Emman and Hector that Joy never blamed

them for what happened to her in the past. There the meet Ligaya, Joy’s daughter, and promised to
take care of her.

Conflict:

 The conflict starts the moment Joy was raped in their trip to Antipolo.

Theme:

 The theme for “Ang Huling El Bimbo” is musical. It also depicts comedy; a romance
between Joy and Hector.

 Present time where the three men were called about Joy’s death.
 Flashback, where the three men were about to go to college.

Characters:

Joy Manawari – a young woman who works at a canteen inside the school campus who
befriends Anthony, Emman, and Hector.

Anthony "AJ" Cruz, Jr. – a closeted gay man who is the son of a strict military man. Later in life
he becomes a businessman and marries.

Emman Azarcon – a humble pre-law activist with political aspirations to serve his country. He
becomes a government employee in adulthood.

Hector Zabala – an aspiring artist who becomes romantically involved with Joy. As an adult, he
becomes a teleserye director.

Tiya Dely – Joy's aunt who owns a canteen near the university campus.

Ligaya – Joy's daughter. She lives under the care of Joy’s aunt, Dely.

Arturo Banlaoi – A professor at the university who treats Joy as his beneficiary.

Andre Antonio – Joy's boyfriend who breaks up with her because of Prof. Banlaoi.
