RE: FESSU NATIONAL HOUSE OF SENATE ISSUES 48-HOUR

ULTIMATUM TO NATIONAL PRESIDENT, COMRADE ABEL ADEWALE
AJIBADE TO RELEASE NEW DATE FOR LAST UNION CONGRESS, TO
HOLD ON OR BEFORE NOVEMBER 10TH 2023

In response to the letter sent by the Senate of this union on October

31st, 2023, the National Executive Council is working to ensure that
congress is held this month, November 2023, as stated in the
communique released by the union on October 26, 2023.

Recall that congress was scheduled to be held on October 27th, 2023, in

Offa, as provided by the constitution, which requires a 72-hour notice
for the exact venue of the National Congress. The exact venue was a
surprise to those who had planned to disrupt the congress that day.
These individuals misrepresented our intentions and unnecessarily
raised tensions.

As a result, an emergency meeting was held that evening with the

Honorable Commissioner for Youth Development. The meeting was
also attended by the union leadership, stakeholders in the state, and
other relevant individuals. It was agreed at that meeting to shift
congress to a suitable date in November 2023 so that everyone could
prepare effectively.

The National Executive Council of the Federation of Ekiti State
Students Union is saddled with the responsibility of leading the
agitations and ensuring the well-being of all Ekiti State Students
(home and diaspora). We will not act under duress or indiscriminate
pressure in accomplishing the set goals/aims of the organization.

I believe it is unconstitutional to tell the National President where

and when to hold the National Congress. Notably, the National
Executive Council has never interfered with the axis where a sitting
should be held, and I expect that the same respect is accorded our
council.

Therefore, I want to assure everyone that congress will be held this

month and can be held anywhere within the six axes of FESSU.

We are working diligently with all parties and stakeholders to ensure

a successful congress for the union.

Finally, as the National President of this union, be reassured that I do

not have any interest in elongating my tenure as presumed in your
letter. I eagerly look forward to beginning my life after FESSU.

Kindly bear with us and work with us as we prepare peacefully and

progressively to successfully hand over to the next administration.
