Louisiana Landmarks Society supports the requirement that students receiving a Bachelor of
Science in Engineering in the United States receive instructions about past engineering
failures. These failures provide invaluable lessons that should inform our future. This is
necessary – as the students of today will be designing the engineered structures of the future.
There is much truth in the saying that “those who cannot remember the past are condemned
to repeat it.”
