THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR

CHAPTER 1

● Anne is married with Marco --- baby; Cora

● Cynthia is married with Graham
● Cynthia flirts with Marco
● They live in New York, in attached brick row houses (casas rosadas)
● They all had a dinner party in Cynthia and Graham’s house that is beside but they left
Cora in the house without the monitor’s screen because its broken
● When they came back the front door was ajar; it was opened about three inches ---
the baby wasn’t in the room

CHAPTER 2

● They called the police and Detective Rasbach arrived

● Someone took the baby between 12:30 and 1:27
● Rasbach ask if Marco had seen or hear anyone when he was taking a cigarette with
Cynthia but he says no, so this narrows the window of abduction between
approximately 12:45 and 1:27 a.m
● Rasbach hypothesis ‘it leads me to believe that the child was taken out the back, to
the garage, and away, probably in a vehicle, via the lane’

CHAPTER 3

● Detective Rasbach starts to think that de Colins killed his own baby and the are just
pretending to be victims

CHAPTER 4

● Marco hypothesis; someone took her in exchange for money because Anne's parents
have a lot
● Rasbach erases the idea that Anne was involved
● Anne asked her mother to come to the house

CHAPTER 5

● Her’s parents arrived

● The police bringed a cadaver dog ( nothing in the car)

CHAPTER 6

● The dog didn’t find anything

● The neighbor Paula Dempsey says she saw a car (smallish, dark color and without
headlights) coming out of the Colins garage at 12:35 a.m
● ‘The parents have just become his prime suspects’
● Anne and Marco are going to get out in medias
CHAPTER 7

● An officer found the pale-pink onesie underneath the pad on the changing table so
she was not wearing that ( Anne doesn’t remember what was she wearing)
● Anne thinks that Cora is wearing the mint-green onesie with the bunny embroidered
on the front
● It appears that no one has been inside their home other than themselves
● Babysitter: Katerina

CHAPTER 8

● Katherine canceled because her grandmother died

● Anne and Marco are going to offer 3 millions to the unknown kidnapper in exchange
of the baby

CHAPTER 9

● Rasbach still think that the parents killed Cora between 6 and 7 o'clock but now he is
going to interview the neighborhood

CHAPTER 10

● Rasbach went to Cynthia and Graham house

● Cynthia says tha Anna leaved the house to feed the baby at 11 p.m and he took a
long time ( she had been crying )
● Marco kissed Cynthia when they were having a cigarette

CHAPTER 11

● Marco deny kissed Cynthia, she was the one to start the kiss
● Anne heard Marco and the Detective conversation
● Cynthia and Graham have a camera on the backyard

CHAPTER 12

● Marco and Anne have been taken to the police station to been asked more question

CHAPTER 13

● They videotape Anne and Marco intervention

CHAPTER 14

● Rasbach will get the police out of the house and see what happens when the two of
them are alone. If he is right and something has gone wrong, if he is to find out what
it is, he must rake a step back and give Marco enough rope to hang himself
● The detectives went to Anne ex school
CHAPTER 15

● They went to Anne’s ex English teacher of high school house

● Then he called an ex school parten, Janice Foegle. They asked her some questions
about Anne at school. She was friendly even though they bullied her. One day in the
bathroom at school they started teasing her about her weight so she grabbed Susan
against the wall.
● Anne got an mail with the mint green jumpsuit inside

CHAPTER 16

● There was a note ‘The baby is fine. Ransom is five million dollars. Do not tell the
police. Bring the money on Thursday at 2 p.m. Any sign of police you will never see
her again’
● There is a detailed map at the bottom of the note

CHAPTER 17

● As Marco's business was in bad shape, he and his accomplice Bruce Neeland put
together a plan; I would take the baby out of the house and let him take her.Then
they would ask for 5 million dollars to get his business on track again and would
divide it getting 2.5 million for each

CHAPTER 18

● Its thursday at 2 p.m and Marco is going to get Cora and the money back
● Marco arrived to the abandoned farm and leave the money and take cora's seat with
the blanket but when he unwraps it cora was not there and neither were the 5 million

CHAPTER 19

● Marco and Anne went to the police station

● The press already gotten the news of the failed exchange
● Rasbach tells Marco that the baby must be dead and that Marco did it

CHAPTER 20

● Anne is again been questioned

CHAPTER 21

● Rasbach is putting pressure on them and Anne wants a lawyer

● They questioned Anne’s parents too
 ● New Lawyer: Aubrey West

CHAPTER 22

● Bruce Neeland ( Derek Honing ) , Marco accomplice, has been found dead in a
cabin in the Catskills

CHAPTER 23

● Anne found a cellphone on the air duct

CHAPTER 24

● Marco meet Cynthia in her house, she knows about kidnapping and wants reward for
his silence but Marco doesn’t have money

CHAPTER 25

● Anne sees Marco come from Cynthia’s house

● The phone belonged to Marco and he used it to communicate with Bruce
● The phone has missed calls

CHAPTER 26

● Marco calls the number that had called him and Richard answers from Bruce number

CHAPTER 27

● Marco gets rid of the cell phone by throwing it into the lake
● There was a police car in the lot
● Anne doesn’t believe Marco - he is a liar
● Anne went to the police station to declare that she killed her daughter only because
she doesn't remember what she did that night - guilty is winning

CHAPTER 28

● ‘ It looks like the man who was murdered at the cabin- Derek Honing- is the one
whose car was in your garage and who took Cora away . The tire treads are the right
type, and we will know soon if they’ re a match with the tracks left in your garage’
Rasbach said

CHAPTER 29
 ● Before everything happened, they tell why Marco got there; one day he meets a
stranger, Bruce and tells him that his company is going badly so He advises him to
lose money to Richard but he refuses and that is where Bruce and Marco put
together the plan

CHAPTER 30

● Anne goes to Cynthia's house to tell her about the affair with Marco but Cynthia
denies everything and shows her the video of Marco kidnapping cora

CHAPTER 31

● Anne rethink her life; She no longer trusts Marco and doubt to show the video to
the police.
● Marco is thinking about declare and say that everything was Bruce's idea and he
was so desperate that he decided to follow him

CHAPTER 32

● Anne and Marco meet at the house and talk about the truth
● anne holds a knife to protect herself from marco
● anne was going to leave Marco
● she remembers seeing Bruce before; he was a friend of his dad

CHAPTER 33

● Marco feels that all this was a trick of Richard to put him in jail
● Anne and Marco went to Richards house to confront him but Anne betrayed Marco
siding with the father

CHAPTER 34

● Richards calls Rasbach to said to him that the kidnappers phoned him but he didn’t
said nothing about Marco “ I am not the bad guy, you are”
● Then Marco leaves the house but Anne stay there with hers parents- marco was
alone
● Rasbach has been sipicious of Richard Fries almost from the start
● He decides to have a couple of officers quietly watching Anne’s parents house

CHAPTER 35
 ● Richard has been seing another woman; with Cynthia ( Anne’s neighbor)
● Alice thinks that Richard was capable of kidnapping his own granddaughter; he didn’t
have money and if he was going to leave her he need the money that was suposed
to be for the kidnappings
● Anne saw her father leaving in secret the house with a gym bag
● Anne follows his father
● She has cora back

CHAPTER 36

● Rasbach knows what Marco did but he thinks Richard killed Derek
● Richard was under arrest
● Anne, Marco and Cora are again in the house

CHAPTER 37

● Anne went to Cynthia house they discussed and Anne killed her
● “Anne what did you do?” said marco
● “I don’t remember” said Anne

Anne y Marco tenían programada una cena con sus vecinos, Cynthia y Graham, de
la casa de al lado. El problema surge cuando su vecina Cynthia les comenta que no
le gustan los niños, no es nada personal, simplemente no soporta sus llantos, así
que es mejor que no lleven a su bebé Cora de seis meses. Inesperadamente en el
último minuto la niñera cancela; y después de mucho discutir, deciden asistir a la
cena. Dejan a Cora con un monitor para bebés cuyo sonido sirve pero con una
pantalla inservible. además irían a la casa cada media hora para asegurarse de que
todo estaba bien. Durante toda la velada no tuvieron ningún problema con Cora
hasta que regresan a casa y suben corriendo las escaleras. La habitación envuelta
en un absoluto silencio. Descubren que su peor pesadilla se ha hecho realidad: la
cuna vacía.
