Dedication
People fear demons, but there is no need for fear. Only
respect. I have been working with demons for over 25 years in my
magickal practice and have seen no need to fear them. However,
this can be powerful stuff, and the practitioner needs to approach
it with a great amount of respect for the demon and for the
process.
What I present to you in this volume, is the continuation and
elaboration of my late-aunt’s work. She taught me some of the
process, mostly based on traditional methods found in the Goetia,
but started to put her own twist on it with a guided meditative
practice. She had the beginnings for some of the Pathworking
journeys for a handful of demons.
I found a lot of truth in her ideas, and through experience,
found that there were pathways we could walk without all the
ceremonial trappings, celestial timings, and long incantations.
Over the last 5 years, I have asked Lucifer to help guide me in
bringing this pathworking system to light. He blessed my hard
work and journey – practical application and scholarly study – with
the illumination you find in these pages. I would also like to
publicly thank Phenix for her assistance in writing the manuscript.
I love writing, but with her help, the words flowed easily.
I would be remis if I did not cite the other authors which have
helped on this journey. First, I want to thank S. Connolly for all
her hard work and dedication to demonolatry. Her insight and
courage (as well as her research and practical advice) have
helped me through my magickal practice and the writing of this
book in more ways that she could ever know.
Demonic pathworking is a relatively new method, but a few
others have beat me to publication. I have read their books and
was surprised and emboldened to see the similarities between
other’s pathworking prompts and “evocation keys.” If you are
interested, you should look at the works by Demon Brand and
Corwin Hargrove. While the methods are different than mine
(although Hargrove’s are quite similar), we are starting to form a
growing body of work to inform others of alternate methods to
contact and work with demons. Please do investigate their works.
I chose to focus on the 72 Goetic Demons because they are
an excellent access point for many to work with demonic
energies. They are gathered into a collection we know as The
Lessor Key of Solomon, or the Goetia, but many have older
origins. This book is not a history of these demons, as there have
been plenty of other books and excellent websites written about
that topic if you are interested. There are also several versions of
the Goetia, leading to some variation of individual demons. I do
not claim one is more valid that another, but the demons here are
pathways that I have used for years and refined over the last five
for use by others.
I also want to thank those individuals who have “tested” the
pathworking process in this book. These people have either been
my students, presented themselves online, or approached me
directly for help. They have helped me clarify the instructions,
finesse the pathworking journey, and provide suggestions for
alternate ways to enhance the experience (the inclusion of the
reference table at the beginning of each section with associated
title, enn, color, incense, metal, planet, element, and original
purpose was all their idea). Without them, I fear this book would
not be the flexible tool for a variety of pathways that it has
become.
As I sit in my library writing this, reflecting on the last years of
research and writing, there is a pandemic spreading across the
globe. My goal of having the manuscript finalized by the end of
April 2020, with a publication shortly after, is not lost on me. This
is a new approach for working with demons in a new world, a
world that is currently in the process of change. I do not know
what the future will bring, but I hope the tools and methods I’m
sharing with you in these pages brings you what you need.

I. Read This Introduction
Nearly every recent book on demons I have opened has
instructed the reader to read the introduction. This book is no
different. As a scholar, I have always felt obliged to read
introductions, but I have also been guilty of skipping or skimming
them. Please read this one.
Working with demons can be powerful, but you need to
understand how to use that power to wield it effectively. I take no
responsibility for your results if you choose to skip the introductory
parts of this book. Even if you are not new to working with
demonic energy, you will want to read these beginning pages to
see the larger picture. I strongly suggest before you start to work
with any of the energies in this book you read it cover to cover.
Then, go back and take from it what you need.

Book Orientation
In Chapter II, I give you a description of the pathworking
method. I go into much detail in that chapter, and then provide
you with a summary. I sincerely hope you read through the
detailed section. The summary is there to help you as a memory
prompt. You might even consider writing the summary down for
your reference or making a copy of the page (digital or physical).
The rest of the book is arranged like the traditional Goetia
which a section for each of the 72 demons. I have kept the
traditional numbering system. These sections have a table of
general information, a list of areas the demon specializes in, the
pathworking journey prompts, and the sigil. I will go into each in
detail here.
Information Table
The information table is there to help the reader provide some
background and context into each demon. You can use this
information within your pathworking or chose not to (I give
suggestions for how to use it in the Pathworking chapter). Of
course, you can find additional traditional attributes in a variety of
sources, but the summary in the table might be handy if
presenting in the same volume and was included.
You can find the following in the table:
Title: A traditional title (King, Prince, Duke, Marquis, and
President) is provided if you want to refer to each demon with a
title and name.
Enn: Enns are provided if you prefer to chant as part of your
preparatory work for the pathworking, or during the pathworking
itself. If you are interested in learning more about the history of
enns and their meaning, please see S. Connolly’s The Complete
Book of Demonolatry. For a guide to pronunciation, please see
the appendix of this book. There are also a multitude of YouTube
videos of people chanting enns if you would like to hear a
pronunciation.
Color, Incense, Metal: Color, incense, and metal are linked to
the demon’s title. You can use these three things to set your
space, add to your altar, wear ceremonial garb, etc. These are
not necessary in the pathworking system presented here, but I
also know these trappings can be important in setting an
appropriate mindset for working magick. Personally, I like to use
incense as I pathwork, but it is up to you to use these or not.
Planet: You can use the corresponding planet to associate a
time of day or season with the demon you are using. I have found
that some of the traditional uses of astrology are starting to fade
from magickal use as we approach this new age. Yet, I
acknowledge this is still an important practice for many. If you
find it helpful, use it, but again, it is not necessary.
Element: The elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water might be
helpful to the pathworker as they enter “conversations” with the
demon. Very often, answers appear as symbols and knowing the
demons’ elemental alignment might be helpful in interpreting
them.
Original Purpose: This is a summary of the demon’s powers
or original focus areas as written in the Goetia. Often, these seem
archaic or laden with symbolism. They are included because you
might have a different insight into the areas of focus for each
demon listed.
Area of Focus
Like the Original Purpose in the table above, the Area of
Focus in my interpretation of the specialties of each demon.
These are based on my experiences with working with each
demon, some experiences of trusted others, and traditional
abilities of the demon. These should be a guide only – they will
require some interpretation and application on your part for your
unique situation.
Read through these lists as you are trying to determine which
demon would be the best choice for your purpose. There is
overlap, so take your time. I recommend you make a list based
on the area of focus, then take some time to reflect on whom
would be best. Let your intuition be your guide as you make your
final decision.
Pathwork
The pathwork is the mental and spiritual journey you will take
to get to the demon. These prompts are similar to a guided
mediation, but they will take you, respectfully, to the realm where
the demon resides, instead of pulling the demon to you in a ritual
circle. I have worked with each demon individually to fine-tune
these prompts for publication in the book. While the prompts
might seem specific, you will have your own unique journey
framed around these prompts. Please see the section below for
additional information on the pathworking method.
Sigil
The sigil is used as a visual connection to the demon, and acts
as a “key” to unlock the pathway and establish a link.
The sigils published here are based on the traditional sigils in
the Goetia. In some cases, a demon has requested small
variations for the published sigil in this book. I have hand-drawn
them for you and are presented here with minimal editing (editing
was done mostly for color correction and to eliminate the
occasional piece of dust in the scanned original). Personally, I find
hand-drawn sigils an important part of my preparation for any
work with a demon. However, this system is designed to be
flexible – you can use the digital version of the sigil directly on a
tablet/reader for the e-book, print or copy it to paper, hand-draw or
trace the sigil yourself, or even use another sigil you prefer for the
demon.
What is Pathworking?
Pathworking, as a mystical practice, gained traction in the
greater magickal world in the 1980s, but an argument can be
made that this technique has been with humanity for much longer
than that. Pathworking has been used to gain deep inner
understanding and can be used as progressive initiation to a
tradition.
Pathworking has been described as both a sensory-laden
guided mediation and as a method of astral projection. In guided
meditation the pathworking is lead, and the inner journey utilizes
archetypal themes and symbols. When the pathworking
references astral travel, practitioners often refer to it as “true
pathworking” to distinguish it from a guided meditation. Here, the
pathworker is going on an actual journey. In this light, pathworking
becomes much more than an inner journey, it becomes magick on
a higher level as one travels across different planes of existence.
In western esoteric traditions, pathworking is employed to
explore the concepts and teachings of each of the ten sephiroth
(sometimes called spheres) and the twenty-two paths in the Tree
of Life, illustrating the principles of the Kabbalah. Each of the
sephiroth and paths are small worlds unto themselves, and the
pathworking involves the journey and discovery of each “world’s”
mystery. This type of pathworking is typically centered around
personal and magickal growth.
Pathworking is not limited to the Kabbalistic and Hermetic
traditions. It can be argued that the Shamanic practice of
“journeying” is a free-form type of pathworking. Runes, like the
sephiroth, can be employed as the “world” to journey within in
runic pathworking. Those practicing chaos magick have also
adapted pathworking into their magickal practice.
This book makes no claim to either viewpoint of pathworking
as guided inner journey or astral travel, as both have immense
value. The pathworking in this book can be used in either way.
Those who have tested the pathworkings have experienced them
as both deep guided mediations and actual travel, often based on
their viewpoint on what a demon is – if demons are manifestations
of our own inner workings, or external entities.
For those who would like to explore pathworking in general, I
highly suggest studying the following books: Magical Pathworking:
Techniques of Active Imagination by Nick Farrell, Magical State of
Consciousness: Pathworking on the Tree of Life by Melita
Denning and Osborne Phillips, Paths of Wisdom: Cabala in the
Golden Dawn Tradition by John Michael Greer, and The Magic of
Pathworking: A Mediation Guide for Your Inner Vision by Simon
Court. If you are seeking a course, the Servants of Light offers a
correspondence course where you build an inner kingdom
employing pathworking techniques.

What are Demons?


This book’s scope will not fully answer this question, and I was
hesitant to add in this section at all. However, several of those
who were working with me on testing the pathworkings suggested
that I add this in because these testers came from varying
viewpoints on what demons are. Undoubtedly, this section may
give you more questions to ponder than answer them, but my
hope is that the additional reading suggestions given here might
provide a starting point for you if you wish to explore further.
Please note that the magick will work for you no matter which
theory of demons agrees with you most.
To simplify the answer, there are two main categories of
thought on demons: theistic and archetypal. In the theistic
viewpoint, demons are supernatural entities. They live on another
plane of existence but can interact with ours both physically and
spiritually. This is often the take on demons for horror films and
ghost hunting shows.[1] (This viewpoint is longstanding and
popular, and assumed in early magickal books of the
Renaissance and continues to this day. Others take the stance
that demons are symbolic and are archetypes, metaphors, or
creations of our human psyche. Aleister Crowley, a foundational
practitioner and author of modern magick, believed that the “Will”
was the ultimate source of our magickal power. While he had
much to say about invocation and evocation of demons, although
very real, he wrote about demons as projections of the mind or
mental constructs. We owe much to Crowley’s use of the Lesser
Key of Solomon in today’s magickal practice and theory. Many
practitioners of modern magick, including those in occult initiatory
orders such as the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and the
Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.) often subscribe to this theory of
demons.
Typically, demons are associated with evil and the work of the
“devil.” The origin of the word comes from the Greek daimon,
does not carry such connotations, but refers to a divine power. As
you study you will see that demons have many origins: fallen
angels, watchers, ancient gods people stopped worshiping,
personified ideas of religious dogma. They have been grouped
into this category because they, at some point, fell from human
favor. You will see that demons in this book are not evil; they may
have talents and skills that range from white to black, but it is all
how you use your request that will determine the “goodness” or
“badness” of your actions.
In Section III of book I provide a little more background on the
Goetic demons in this book, but additional information about
demons, in general is beyond the scope of this text. If you are
interested in reading further, I would like to suggest the following
books. All of the books written by S. Connolly are excellent for
general demonology knowledge, but consider starting with The
Complete Book of Demonolatry. The Book of the Goetia of
Solomon the King which includes an introduction and annotation
by Aleister Crowley, should also be of some interest. M.
Belanger’s The Dictionary of Demons is a great place to learn
some encyclopedic knowledge about demon’s name and origins,
but it does not go into great detail. The Black Arts: A Concise
History of Witchcraft, Demonology, Astrology, and Other Mystical
Practices Throughout the Ages by Richard Cavendish in 1967
(reprints available) is a classic primer if you are new to magick.
II. Pathworking Preparation and Ritual
Please prepare. This is probably the most important chapter
in the book, and critical if you want to be successful. Read
through this chapter, in detail, and take notes. Although
Pathworking typically requires less physical “stuff” it does require
deep preparation so that you are ready to take this journey. I have
not included a summary because I find too many people will only
read this, and not adequately prepare for this type of magick. I
strongly suggest you make your own based on the instructions
below.

Preparation
Before you begin anything, start with some thinking about
what you want to get from this. Do not consider the "how", just
the result. Have a clear image of it or write it down in a few
sentences. Let it sit overnight and come back to it - are you still
happy with the goal? If so, proceed to do some kind of divination.
My go-to for divination is tarot, but anything will work. I ask my
question like this, "If I use magick (or be more specific – “If I ask
Bime to help me…”) to get the result I want, what will be the
consequences?" Often the answer is just what you stated as a
goal. Sometimes you might see something else that is not great
(For example, if you asked for a quick influx of money and you
see that to get it, your favorite uncle would die in an accident).
If you get something negative, try re-working your goal or try a
different demon. Then do another reading to see if you get a
satisfactory result. Or if you do not mind the negative (no
judgement here), proceed with the ritual.

Ritual Opening
Make sure you have a quiet, comfortable, and private place to
work. You do not want to be interrupted. These pathworking
sessions can range from about 20 minutes to about an hour, so
please give yourself enough time.
Start by clearing your space in your typical way and preparing
yourself for entering a magickal space. Pathworking doesn't
require special equipment - just your mind, the sigil, and maybe a
few notes - it is important that you feel like you are entering a
magickal space. Do what you need to do here - wear special
clothing, have an alter set up, burn incense and candles. I have
included associated colors, incense, and metals typically
associated with each demon in case you would like to use them to
help you set your space. You can burn specific colored candles;
light incense or use anointing oils; wear special clothing or
jewelry; or have something on an altar in a particular metal to help
you set the mood. Know that you don’t need it, and I’m not here to
put any particular flavor on this ritual, but I know how important
set and setting is to create the correct mindspace. I have included
these traditional references here to help you do what makes you
feel the most comfortable. Do what you need to do or do nothing -
your preference.
I have also included the associated celestial body with each
demon. Again, this is optional, but many feel comfortable in
working in astrology into the pathworking by using time of day or
year. If this is something you find important, feel free to add in
these elements, but know that it is not needed. It will not make
your pathworking any stronger, or connection more vivid, if you
add it – it is purely personal choice.
You also want to make sure that your spiritual space is set.
For some, using the items above can help you with that. You
might also consider casting a circle, if that is in your tradition. If
you want to call the four corners, winds or watchtowers, do that.
You can call in cardinal demons to balance your space: Belial,
Lucifer, Flereous, Leviathan, Satan. You can call four or six
cardinal angels: Urial, Raphael, Michael, Gabriel, Metatron, and
Sandalphon; and that is fine, too. Or you can call in the elements
- it is all the same thing. Because this pathworking uses the four
elements to make the connection through symbolism within the
pathworking journey, I find it helpful to set my magickal "stage" by
doing the following:
Sit or lay comfortably in the place you will do your
pathworking journey. Clear your mind – a short breathing or
body-scan meditation might help here. When you are ready,
imagine calling items that represent the element of Earth to
you: dirt, soil, rocks, twigs, leaves, etc. These items rise up in
front of you and move to form a sphere that starts to rotate
and spin around you. This sphere then turns into earth
energy. Next, picture items that represent the element of air
(wind, feathers, etc.). Let those form a moving sphere around
you. Now, imagine the earth sphere changing to the element
of air as it slowly spins. (Alternately, you can keep the earth
sphere and add a second sphere of air). Call fire to you.
Then air changes to fire (or have a 3rd sphere of fire). Call
water to you. The fire changes to water (or have a 4th sphere
of water). When you have a good sense of each element, let
them all slowly dissipate.
I have also included the traditional enn associated with each
demon. If you chose to use these, chant them as preparation for
the ritual, after you set your spiritual space above. You can also
use them as a chant as you enter the pathwalking space, just
before you open the door that starts each journey.

The Pathworking Ritual


Ritual Connection
Now that your physical and spiritual stages are set, you can
move on to the ritual that will connect you to the demon.
Have the sigil in front of you. Imagine a door with the sigil on
it. The door may be different each time – color, material, how the
sigil is displayed. You might choose to chant (either audibly or in
your mind) the demon’s enn until you get a good mental picture of
the door. Then, with purpose, imagine yourself walking through
the door.
Read the first pathworking statement (for example, "Pond
frozen like glass with filthy water underneath.”) and imagine what
it would be like to be there experiencing it. The more details you
can "see," "feel," "hear," "smell," and "taste," the better. When you
have a good connection to the image, breathe out and move to
the next statement, knowing that each step takes your closer to
the demon. Repeat for each statement.
Once all the statements are “walked,” call out the demon’s
name three times. (See the appendix for a guide to
pronunciation.) You can also look at the sigil as you do this if you
wish. You should feel the demon getting closer each time you call.
After the 3rd time, the demon is present. You may not be able
to see a presence, but you should feel something. If you cannot -
do not worry, the demon is still present.
Ask your request. Make sure that this request is prepared in
advance. Pathworking can be much like entering a dream,
especially after contact with the demon is made, and you might
get a little disoriented. It is fine to open your eyes to look briefly at
a physical prompt you have prepared for yourself.
Your request should be asked in the present or past tense –
ask as if the request is in the process of being completed or has
already been completed. Be straightforward and do not be wordy.
For example, if you are asking Bathin for safe travel on an
upcoming road trip you might phrase it like this: “Duke Bathin
provides me with safe travel on my trip to and from the Badlands
National Park in South Dakota” or “Duke Bathin provided me with
a safe journey on my trip to and from the Badlands National Park
in South Dakota.” As you ask, you should allow yourself to feel
the emotion of what a safe trip will feel like: secure, care-free,
satisfaction, etc. Just assign emotion, though, and not physical
expectations (i.e. don’t assign expectations: such as, you will get
a particular rental car make/model, or you want a specific
campsite – you want to keep the emotions only). Ideally, treat the
emotions as if you were remembering the trip as if it happened in
the past. Keep an open mind and be aware of the details. Do not
ask for specifics. Specific details can and will put limits on the
magick. Just ask for the result.
After you ask your request, you will get a sense that the
demon understands, or it might start a conversation with you. It
might ask for additional details or clarification. It is ok if these
follow-up conversations are phrased in the future tense, unlike
your initial ask (e.g. “Yes, I will be renting a vehicle for this trip in
my hometown.”) You might also see the demon, depending on
how strong your connection is. If the demon appears to you, do
not worry that the demon might not appear as described in
previous texts. How demons appear is personal to those they
appear to. Typically, as you work with a specific demon over and
over, the connection will get stronger.
A word of warning: do not use this ritual to have a casual
conversation with the demon. You are here for a purpose, and
while it is fine to have a conversation if questions or clarifiers are
asked, do not get chatty.
Close the ritual by politely saying “thank you” and perhaps
saying some polite words of departure. Read the first
pathworking statement again and imagine yourself in that setting.
There is no need to go through the entire pathworking in reverse.
Next. see the opposite side of the door you initially walked
through. Open, walk through, and know your pathworking is
complete.
Do not use a banishing ritual or “license to depart.” If it is in
your tradition to close the circle then do so, but do not use a ritual
closing that strongly ushers the demon away. It is the equivalent
of asking a friend for a favor, and, once he agrees, shoving him
out the door. In pathworking, we are working with the demon in a
partnership, and not demanding something. Do not be rude.
After your pathworking session, you might feel a little shaky,
dizzy, or disoriented. This is normal, and nothing to worry about.
You just need to ground yourself. A simple grounding exercise to
use is to breathe in deeply – as you breathe in, imaging your
breath filling up your body from toes to crown. Once your fill your
body, imagine your breath extending into the earth, connecting
you to this plane. This should help to bring you firmly back to
your surroundings.

Results and Offerings


Once you start to see results, you can repeat the pathworking
ritual and make an offering or make an offering in a way that feels
right to you and your practice. This is always optional, but much
like a small gift, these offerings go a long way in establishing a
good working relationship, and I highly recommend them. Be
extraordinarily careful with offerings of blood, sex, or sexual
fluids. Not all demons appreciate these, and some only prefer
them from those they have a strong working relationship with. If
this is your first time working with a particular demon, offerings
shouldn't be blood or sex. Offerings often include a self-sacrifice
(for example, eliminating caffeine for a week), a physical offering,
or a public statement of gratitude. The type I use most often are
offerings that offer a sensual (not sexual) experience. For
example, indulging in a glass of incredible wine in the demon's
presence and offering up your drinking experience and pleasure. I
have also used sensual experiences, like bathing in deep water
decorated and scented with herbs and oils. I used a public
dedication for the demonic help I received in writing this book and
have seen others write their thanks in the public eye of social
media. Do what feels right for the demon you call on and your
preferences.
III. The Goetic Demons
The Lesser Key of Solomon, is where we find the Ars Goetia,
one of five books gathered into the Lesser Key volume. The word
Goetia comes from the Greek word goēteía, which means the
practice of charming or sorcery. “Goetia” today, typically refers to
the conjuration of demons.
The Ars Goetia is generally thought to have not been compiled
before the mid-to-late 1580s (many scholars now place its writing
sometime in the 17th century) and is based on Reginald Scot’s
translation of Johann Weyer’s Pseudomonarchia Daemonum
(1583) and possibly Weyer’s De praestigils deamonum. Some
additional information seems to have come from Heinrich
Cornelius Agrippa’s Three Books of Occult Philosophy (1533) and
the 14th century’s Heptameron, or Magical Elements of Peter de
Abano.
There is variation in rituals, numbers and order of demons,
and names in the books above. Subsequent derivative works
such as Abramelin The Mage (there is some debate if this is a
work from the 19th century or an actual translation of a 15th
century manuscript), Collin de Plancy’s Dictionnaire Infernal
(1863), and Samuel Liddell’s and MacGregor Mather’s translation
of The Lesser Key of Solomon in The Goetia (1904, with the
annotations and introduction by Crowley) also have changed the
order, number and spelling of many of the demons.

Peterson has digital versions of these classic texts as well as
timelines and a host of other materials available to all visitors.
The demons in this book use the order established in The
Lesser Key of Solomon 1904 edition. I have included alternate
spellings and names where appropriate. The first name given is
the name that I use for these demons, or the one the demon
asked to be called when undertaking the pathworkings given
here. You many have a different preference or experience, and
that is why alternates are given. I always find it a good practice,
the first time working with a demon, to ask “What would you prefer
I call you?” Use what you are given.
You will also note that I provide the sigil, but not an illustration
of the demon, or a description. Demons will appear to each of us
differently. Most of today’s illustrations and images come from
Collin de Plancy’s Dictionnaire Infernal. Those images, although
striking, have created a great hindrance to those working with
demons: too many feel that if the demon doesn’t look like Plancy’s
visions, then the demon is not real, an imposter, or a figment of
the imagination. In my experience, I have never seen anything
that looks like Plancy’s illustrations. Demons appear to us as we
need them to. Some are consistent each time you call and others
shapeshift depending on the situation. Some you may not “see,”
but feel or know. Also, how you experience the demon might be
wildly different from how a colleague experiences the same
demon, or your experience might shift over time. All are equally
valid.

Pronunciation of Names and Enns
Typically, the pronunciation is similar to how the word would
be pronounced in Latin or the Romance languages. This poses a
problem for English speakers who may not be as familiar with
these languages. I have found that readers are also not as
familiar with standard phonetic pronunciation symbols (such as
those in the dictionary), and so I am reluctant to use those to keep
this as approachable as possible. There are also regional
pronunciations to contend with: think about how the word “HOME”
is pronounced differently in Minnesota, Massachusetts, and
Arkansas.
Below is my attempt to help you correctly pronounce the
names and enns in the book. Below you will find a general guide
with letter-by-letter rules and a table using as pseudo-phonetic
pronunciation. Please do not get so hung-up on exact
pronunciations that it distracts you from your magickal work. Your
intent to contact the correct demon is far more important that the
pronunciation of the demon’s name.
Pronunciation Rules
Typically pronounce every letter. There are no silent “e”s nor
are double vowels to be slurred together. (e.g. BAEL has 2
syllables: BAH-ELL; Bime is pronounced BEE-MEH)
Accents also typically follow Latin rules. (You might want to
read this paragraph aloud if you are unfamiliar with accenting
syllables.) If a word is two syllables long, accent the first. For
example, to pronounce demon, you say “DEE-mohn” not “dee-
MOHN.” Likewise, for Buer, you would say “BOO-air” not “boo-
AIR.” If a word is longer, the second syllable is typically accented.
For example, to pronounce amazement, you say “ah-MAZE-ment”
not “ah-maze-MENT.” Similarly, for Vassago, you would say
“vahs-AH-go” not “VAHS-ah-go” nor “vahs-ah-GO.” Sometimes,
for three or more syllabic words, you would accent the first
syllable instead. For example, Forneus is pronounce “FORN-ee-
oos” not “forn-EE-oos” nor “forn-ee-OOS.” I’ve provided a
pronunciation guide below the vowel and consonant sections
assist you, as not all names fall into these rules.
Vowels
This is a list of common vowel pronunciations.
A: This is a short A sound. “AH” as in Ah-ha or call.
E: This is a short E sound. “EH” as in bet or end. Sometimes
it can sound a little longer (typically at the end of a
word); “EHY” or “AY” as in Pisces or the second e in
series.
I: This is double E sound. “EE” as in bee or eat.
O: This is a short O sound. “OH” as in born, oar, or come.
U: This is a double O sound. “OO” as in boo or good.
Y: Treat as the I above.
Consonants and Digraphs
Below are listed some problematic consonants and diagraphs
(two-letters said as one). In English, they can be pronounced in
multiple ways; this list should guide you
C:This is a hard C sound. “K” as in cat or cake.
CH: This sound is not said in English but can be found in
Hebrew and other languages. It is the “KH” sound in
Chanukah. If is this too difficult of a sound to say, you
can replace it with a K.
G:​This is a hard G sound. “GEH” as in grape or gate.
H:This is a typical English H sound. “HEH” as in health or
hell.
J:​This is soft G sound. “JEH” as in jump or Jeff. Since J is a
relatively new letter, you can also pronounce it the
traditional way where J is a Y or I sound like “YAH” is in
yes or yellow.
PH:​This is an F sound. “EFF” as in photo or dolphin.
TH:​This is an English TH sound (do not substitute with a D
or DTH. “TH” as in they or thing.
V:​This is a modern V sound. “VE” as in very or viper.
However, you can also use the Latin sound which is a
“W” for the V. “WEH” as in way or wife.
X:​This is a KS sound. “KS” as in exit or ox.
Y:​Occasionally, you will see Y used as a consonant. Use a
“YEH” sound as in yak or yell.
Z:​This is a TS or DS sound. “TS” or DS” as in zebra or buzz.
