COT LESSON Teacher ELOISA M. SALVADOR Learning Area MATHEMATICS 5

PLAN Date SEPTEMBER 04, 2023 Quarter 1ST Quarter
Time Checked by:

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate understanding of divisibility,
order of operations, factors, and multiples, and the four
fundamental operations involving fractions
B. Performance Standards The learner is able to apply divisibility, order of operations,
factors and multiples, and the four fundamental operations
involving fractions in mathematical problems and real-life
situations.
C. Learning Competencies or Uses divisibility rules for 2,5 and 10 to find the common
Objectives factors of numbers (M5NS-lb-58.1)
II. CONTENT Using divisibility rules for 2,5 and 10 and finding common
factors of numbers

Lesson Integration: The learners should be able to

recognize the importance of recycle, reduce, reuse,
recover and repair in waste management (S5MT-le-g-3)
Maximize the use of materials in the environment using
5Rs
III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide Pages TM 21st Century Mathematics 5 2016 pp.19-22
2. Learning Material’s Pages
3. Textbook Pages LM 21st Century Mathematics 5 2016 pp.30-32
4. Additional Materials from
Learning Resource (LR)
Portal
B. Other Learning Resources
IV. PROCEDURE
A. Review previous lesson or Motivation
presenting the new lesson Through a game 4 pics 1 word

 Picture of Plastic Bottles

 Ask the Pupils on what should be done to plastic
bottles
- plastic bottles are recyclable materials. It
can be recycled or reused. By doing this
we will reduce the amount of plastic in
our environment.
 Picture of Recycling
 Let the pupils give examples of materials in
school or at home that can be recycle
- Encourage the pupils to practice
waste segregation and use the
5R of waste management.

• Picture of Plants
 Ask the pupils if they have plants at home and what
pot did they use

- Emphasize that using plastic bottles as a pot for

plant is a form of waste management. It is reusing a waste
product.
After playing 4 pics 1 word
Show a picture of plants planted in plastic bottles

 Explain to pupils that plants are not just

decoration. It also serves a vital purpose for our
survival for it give oxygen that we breath and
consumes carbon dioxide that pollutes our
environment.
 People with green thumb are good with plants
but people with green palm is doing much
better. In our palm we have five fingers and
every finger serve as reminder of 5 ways of
waste management. Recycle, Reduce, Reuse,
Recover and Repair.
B. Establishing a purpose for Ask:
the Lesson  Do you have plants in your home?
 How to take care of your plants?
 How do you arrange your plants at home?

Present this problem to the class.

Miss Joy Belo is an avid plant collector (Certified
Plantita) she has 130 different plants. She wants to
arrange them in 2,5 or 10 rows. Would it be
possible for her to arrange the plants?
C. Presenting Examples/ Ask:
instances of the new lesson  How many plants Miss Joy has?
 What does the problem asked you to find?
 How will you find the answer to the problem?
Present the chart about the divisibility rules for 2,5 and 10
Explain the rules to the pupils.

D. Discussing new concepts Ask the pupils to work in pairs in solving the problem.
and practicing new skills #1  Solution 1A: Dividing 130 by 2
130÷2=165, arranging the plants by 2’s is possible
 Solution 1B: Using the divisibility rule for 2
All even numbers are divisible by 2
130 is an even number, therefore it is divisible by 2,
and arrangement of plants by 2’s is possible

 Solution 2A: Dividing 130 by 5

130÷5= 46, arranging 5’s is possible
 Solution 2B: Using the divisibility Rule for 5
Numbers ending in 0 and 5 are divisible by 5
130 ends in 0, therefore it is divisible by 5,
arrangement of plants by 5’s is possible

 Solution 3A: Dividing 130 by 10

130÷10=23, arranging plants by 10’s is possible
 Solution 3B: Using divisibility rule for 10
Numbers ending in 0 are divisible by 10
130 ends in 0, therefore it is divisible by 10,
arrangement of plants by 10’s is possible.

E. Discussing new concepts Practice

and practicing new skills #2 Activity No.1

Examine the numbers and put them in the column that

they are divisible.
232, 500, 65, 934, 10, 8, 385, 730, & 1500
Divisible by 2 Divisible by 5 Divisible by 10
232
500 500 500
65

F. Developing Mastery Group Activity

Present the Norms to be followed for group activities

G- ive thoughtful feedback

R- espect others and their thoughts
O- n task all the time
U- se appropriate voice level to communicate
P- articipate actively
S- tay on your sit

Let the pupils discuss and agree to the norms.

While in their sit divide the pupils into two groups. They
will do the activity individually, but they share or ask
assistance from their groupmates.

Group 1
-Give 3 numbers that are divisible by 2,5 and 10

Group 2
-Identify if the given numbers are divisible by 2,5 or 10
( 18, 25, 150, 1200 )

G. Finding Practical Ask

applications of concepts and How did you find the activity?
skills in daily living How did we know if a number is divisible by another
number?
How did we know if 2,5 and 10 are factors of a number?
H. Generalizing and Abstraction How do we find the factors of a number using divisibility
about the lesson rules?
We recall and apply the rules on divisibility for 2, 5 and 10
Divisibility rule for 2
All even numbers are divisible by 2
Divisibility rule for 5
Numbers ending in 0 and 5 are divisible by 5
Divisibility rule for 10
Numbers ending in 0 are divisible by 10

I. Evaluating learning Using the divisibility rule, encircle the numbers whose
factors are the given number before each item
