I. INTRODUCTION

The Coronavirus disease (COVID- 19) Is an infectious disease caused by a new


strain of coronavirus. This new virus and disease were unknown before the outbreak
began in Wuhan, China in December 2019.

January 30, 2020 in the Philippines Department Of Health (DOH) Reported the
first case of Covid-19 in the country with a 38 years old female Chinese National and
on March 7 the first local transmission of Covid-19 was confirmed.

II. OBJECTIVES

This Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) Contingency Plan covers the Malanang


Integrated School, District of Opol, Division Of Misamis. Oriental.

The Department Of Education (DepEd) Is committed to ensure safe educational


continuity amidst the challenges of Covid-19 Pandemic in the provision of learning
opportunities the health and safety of our learners and teaching, Non- teaching
personnel and stakeholders are of utmost importance and must be protected at all
times.

This Contingency Plan aims to:

1. Align with the Harmonized National Contingency Plan for the COVID-19 of the
National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
2. Establish the coordination and communication mechanisms among the central
office and the affected and assisting regions.

3. Set the response and rehabilitation or early recovery roles and functions of the
DepEd central office and the affected and assisting regions for purposes of
education continuity.

4. Provide guidance for the continuing capacity building of DepEd offices and schools.

5. Determine the preparedness and prevention and mitigation measures to reduce the
impacts of the Pandemic COVID-19.

6. Support the identification of needed equipment and supplies to reduce the impacts
of the COVID-19.

III. IMPACT AND SCENARIOS

The Philippines is now facing a very dangerous health problem. It is the


COVID19 or Coronavirus, In the Philippines there are challenges in responding to the
pandemic including the shortage of health facilities, health workers and testing kits.
COVID 19 in the Philippines is a challenging task because our economy status was
greatly affected especially the people many lost their job and some business force to
close for this COVID 19 pandemic. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte response to the
COVID 19 pandemic both the National Government and Local Government have
responded to the COVID 19 pandemic in the Philippines with various declaration of
emergency so that intended to slow the progression of the coronavirus. Department of
Education are also having their ways to help the learners, teachers, stakeholders and
people in our community to be safe always against coronavirus. Malanang Integrated
School Teachers with our Principal Ma’am Gladys S. Banac together with the barangay
council headed by Brgy. Captain Nilda G. Zafra we made a contingency plan against
COVID 19 that we believed “Today we follow tomorrow we lead” Malanang Integrated
School Lahi Ra Gyud.

According to the World Health Organization this COVID19 can easily be


transmitted into another person with this it is considered as risky. As mentioned in
the following scenario.
1. People are being told not to go out in their house to avoid local transmission
2. The economy of the country is greatly affected because of the Coronavirus (COVID
19) pandemic.
3. Some establishment are shutdown
4. Many people lost their job
5. Many people are confined in the hospital and the worst some people lost their lives.

IV. Activation, Deactivation and Non-activation of Contingency Plan

The Malanang Integrated School contingency measures for COVID-19 are


aligned with the 2019 NDRRMC Harmonized National Contingency Plan (HNCP) for
COVID-19 Pandemic. This will enable Malanang Integrated School to have better
coordination horizontally, DepEd with other NDRRMC agencies, and vertically, DepEd
Central Office down to the schools.

A. Activation
The activation of Malanang Integrated School Contingency Plan for COVID-19 is
aligned with the activation of the Harmonized National Contingency Plan. This
includes any of the following triggers:

The COVID-19 local transmission will trigger the activation of this contingency
plan. Once the contingency is activated, the primary indicators for the deployment of
the assisting local government unit including MDRRMO to affected schools are based
on the functionality of the existing Emergency Operating Center (EOCs) of the
MDRRMO. The DepEd Region X, the DepEd Division Office of Misamis Oriental, the
office of the Public Schools District Supervisor shall coordinate for the deployment and
mobilization of the resources. Suspension of classes will be announced.

B. Deactivation

All assisting MDRRMO will operate until such time that the affected school are
able to recover and eventually take charge. Hence, the trigger of de-activation of the
plan will be based on the recommendation of the Rural Health Unit (RHU). Specifically,
the RHU will assess if the local transmission is contained. The recommendation will be
escalated to the Division Office up to the National Office for further decision.

C. Non-Activation

the event that the plan is not activated, the response mechanisms detailed in
this plan will still be relevant for any occurring local transmission.

V. Coordination, Command and Control

A. Coordination

The School Disaster Risk Reduction Management (SDRRM) coordinator will


coordinate from the respective Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT),
Rural Health Unit and to the District Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DDRRM)
coordinator.

B. Command and Control

Emergency Operation Center (EOC) to coordinate the requirement of the

EFFECTIVITY

This contingency plan for COVID - 19 pandemic shall be effective and upon
publication. The plan shall be considered a “working document “and be subjected to
continuous review and enhancement by the DepEd Technical Working Group based on
latest scientific studies about geological hazards, risk assessment findings and
innovations in DRRM policies and standards.
