1 Maintenance intervals for service technicians

When? What?
Annually  Perform software/firmware update for all controllers and
devices ( Service Manual – Workstation and Controller).
 Check and adjust the machine level ( Service Manual –
Installation).
 Check and adjust the head media distance ( Service
Manual – Settings).
 Check and adjust the media feed roll unit ( Service Manual
– Settings).
 Check and adjust the media eject roll ( Service Manual –
Settings).
 Check and adjust the purge unit ( Service Manual –
Settings).
 Clean, check and adjust the crash sensors ( Service
Manual – Settings).
 Check and adjust the media security sensor ( Service
Manual – Settings).
 Check the print head alignment and adjust them if necessary
( Service Manual – Print head).
 Remove frayed edges of the transport belt ( Chapter 4.1.1,
p. 12).
 Check all print position offsets ( Service Manual – Settings).
 Check the compressed air system ( Service Manual –
Settings).
 Check the cooling fan on the fusion boards. ( Chapter 4.2,
p. 13).
 Clean the ventilation slots of the power supply for the head
drivers.( Chapter 4.3, p. 13)
 Check the cables in the cable chain and grease them with
Vaseline ( Chapter 4.4.1, p. 14).
 Change the air filter of the ACS controller
( Chapter 4.10.1, p. 22).
Annually  Grease the head media distance unit rail bearings
( Chapter 4.5.1, p. 17).
 Grease the spindle system for the head media distance unit.
( Chapter 4.5.2, p. 17)
 Clean the linear guides for media feed/eject roll unit (
Chapter 4.5, p. 17)
 Clean the linear guides for the purge unit ( Chapter 0,
p. 19)
Annually  Clean the UV lamp housing ( Service Manual – UV
System).

When? What?
 Clean the UV quartz filter and change them if necessary
( Service Manual – UV System).
 Clean the UV reflectors and change them if necessary
( Service Manual – UV System).
 Paint the left and the right light trap with a heat resistant, matt
black paint ( Chapter 4.8, p. 20).
 Perform a Media Transport Analysis ( Service Manual –
Diagnostics).
 Cooling unit – Check the glycol concentration of the
refrigerant
 Cooling unit – Check the pH-value of the refrigerant
Every 2 years  Change the ink lines in the cable chain ( Chapter 0, p. 15)
Every 3 years  Change the lung filter (Chapter 4.9.1, p. 21).
 Empty and flush the main ink tank ( Chapter 4.9.2, p. 21).
 Change the UV-exhaust air hoses

2 Maintenance intervals for the operating company

The following maintenance activities must be performed by the operating company

( operating instructions).

When? What?
Daily  Perform daily maintenance work on the print head.
 Check all warning signs for cleanliness and legibility, and
replace them if necessary.
 Visually check the printer covers.
 Check the transport belt for dirt and damage. Clean it if
necessary.
 Make sure that all safety equipment is fitted and in good
working order. This applies particularly to the following safety
equipment:
– Emergency stop switches
– Safety door switches

Weekly  Wipe the printing plate clean

 Remove access oil of the print carriage linear rails
 Remove access oil of the energy chain linear rails
 Clean the ink drain and the suction nozzles on the purge unit.
 Clean the suction holes at the edge of the transport belt.
 Change the filter of the table vacuum limiting valves
 Check the condition of the encoder ruler and clean it if
necessary.
 Check the filter for the fusion board cooling and exchange it if
necessary.
Monthly  Check the air filters of the UV lamps and exchange them if
necessary.
 Check the lung filter for leak-tightness.
 Clean the electrodes of the anti-static unit using compressed
air.
 Check if the table vacuum fans are running.
 Check the pressure drop on the filter of the external chiller
and change the filter if necessary.
 Clean the radiator block of the external chiller.
 Change the filter for the cyclone ink separator
Every 6 months  Create a backup of the printer configuration.
Annually  Check the left and right light trap for damage and blank
areas.
 Change the main ink filter.
 Clean the ventilation slots of the printer workstation and the
housing where the workstation is located.
 Clean the ventilation slots of the workstation for the RIP
If necessary  Clean the printer covers.

When? What?
 Top up the inks.
 Clean up any ink that flowed out.
 Empty the waste ink tank.
 Ask Durst customer service for a review of the media
transport unit.
 Change the UV bulbs.
 Change the cartridge of the oiling unit for the carriage rail
bearings.
 Change the filter for the main ink tank ventilation.
