UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR / PERFORMANCE: (i.e. specify the degree to which the


behaviour/performance is sub-standard):-

Gross Misconduct – In that notwithstanding our rules regulating absenteeism, you failed to comply with
such and in specific for the period __/__/2023, wherein you simply stayed away from work without any
form of authority or having at least made an effort to phone your employer explaining the reason for your
absence and intended date of return; the aforementioned is aggravated by the fact that such coincided with
a weekend, which could in future be construed as creating a pattern of abuse.
Acting in a corrective and progressive manner, the employer affords you this opportunity to show a
recommitment to its rules, standards and values, failing which further disciplinary action shall be taken
with dire consequences.
This is a 1st written warning, which shall remain effective for a period of 6 months during which time your
attendance shall be closely monitored. In addition to this written warning, the principle of no work no pay
shall apply for those days that you absented yourself and failed to contact your employer.

IMPROVEMENTS REQUIRED: (i.e. specify the improvements/acceptable standard(s) applicable):-

You shall at all times adhere to the rules and regulations of the company and in specific attending to work.
Should you not be able to come to work for reasons of incapacity or whatsoever other reason, you shall
personally phone your employer 30 minutes prior to your shift commencing explaining the reason for your
absence and intended date of return. This shall be done every day of such absence until you have presented
to your employer a medical certificate issued and signed by a registered medical practitioner, which
excludes traditional healers that are not registered with the Medical Council and Clinics. Please note that
this shall not automatically approve your leave and the employer having regard to the reasons for such,
shall determine whether such request is approved and/or not.
Should you wish to take vacational or even occasional leave you shall apply for such prior to taking such

leave, giving notice equal to the number of days you wish to take and then only if such application was
approved by your employer may you embark on said leave.
Please note that excuses, which inter alia but not limited to relating to no transport, no communication,
overslept, under the influence of alcohol, incarceration or no airtime is simply not acceptable and will not
exonerate you from reporting for duty or complying with our rules.
Where an employee absents himself on more than 2 occasions in an 8-week period and as regulated by the
Basic Conditions of Employment Act, you shall in addition to phoning your employer personally
whenever you cannot report for duty, submit a medical certificate for every day that you absent yourself
for forms of incapacity.

Should you continue to defy rules and instructions of your employer; further disciplinary action will be
instituted against you, which will eventually result in your dismissal from the company, subject only to the
rules of natural justice.
