Let the student answer the question:

James Clerk Maxwell was a Scottish mathematician and scientist responsible for the classical
theory of electromagnetic radiation, which was the first theory to describe electricity,
magnetism, and light as different manifestations of the same phenomenon. Which of the
following findings of Maxwell does NOT point out to the characteristics of electromagnetic
waves?

A. EM waves are produced whenever electric charges are accelerated.

B. All EM waves travel in a vacuum at 3.0 X 108 m/s and obey the universal wave equation.
C. EM waves cannot exhibit properties such interference, diffraction, polarization, refraction,
and reflection except light.
D. EM waves consist of oscillating electric and magnetic fields in a constant phase relation
perpendicular to each other and perpendicular to the direction of propagation.

In the electromagnetic wave, what is the direction of the propagation of the wave?

A.Always to the right

B.Cannot be determined
C.Parallel to Electric and magnetic field
D. Perpendicular to the Electric and magnetic field directions

Answer: D

What type of waves are electromagnetic waves?

A.Electric Waves
B.Longitudinal waves
C.Mechanical waves
D.Transverse waves

Answer: D
B. ENGAGE Reading Thoughts! (iCARE) Day 1
Establishing a Directions: Ask the learners to read the following words and their definitions. (Repeat After
purpose for the the teacher)
lesson
1. Electromagnetic waves- are a form of radiation that travel though the universe.
They are formed when an electric field couples with a magnetic field.
2. Electromagnetic Induction- is the creation of an electro-motive force (EMF) by way
of a moving magnetic field around an electric conductor and, conversely, the creation
of current by moving an electric conductor through a static magnetic field.
3. Speed of Light- The speed of light traveling through a vacuum is exactly 299,792,458
meters (983,571,056 feet) per second. That's about 186,282 miles per second — a
universal constant known in equations as "c," or light speed.
