iron ore
beneficiation
QEMSCAN® quantitative analysis of Iron Ore is designed
to provide information that is essential to the profitability
and productivity of beneficiation processes.

Performing routine, automated measurement of

samples of ore, sinter and pellets, this technology
presents factual, repeatable information to design,
improve and ensure the optimization of extraction
and beneficiation processes.
Ore characterization to modal mineralogy, trace
elements to pellet structure, comminution or
separation optimization can be provided as reliable,
repeatable data for process management and
improvement.

QEMSCAN® analysis can be

used with all elements of the
beneficiation process:
° Lumps and fines
° Concentrator products
° Fluxes
° Binding agents
° Sinter
° Pellets

Low grade ores

When dealing with low grade ores, characterization of
waste fines (slimes), particle density and particle shape
are extremely important to the efficient operation of the Modal mineralogy (pellets)
comminution circuit and downstream to the separation
process. Correct screen sizes, wash types and waste slurry
processing dramatically affect the costs of the process.
You can expect a detailed, quantitative analysis of
mineralogy and structure of feedstock and waste fines
to better understand and predict behavior and volumes
— improving plant reliability, reducing operational costs
and improving recovery.
Identification of penalty compounds, mineral
identification, association, locking and liberation, particle
texture, shape, size and density distribution, grain size
and density distribution are key factors in optimising and
troubleshooting flotation circuits. QEMSCAN® handles
them all, quantitatively, repeatability and quickly.
Elemental deportment
Pellets and sinter
The concentrate itself, waste rock, penalty compounds,
binding agents and fluxes all have key roles in the
provision of quality pellets or sinter.
The system’s ability to routinely analyze all of these process
products and provide robust, digital information about
elemental deportment, mineral abundance and liberation,
chemical assays, grain size and shape is what makes it so
unique.

QEMSCAN® analysis is the key to improving

reliability and profitably of iron ore
preparation and beneficiation.
