Title of the Contemporary Artwork: FISH VENDOR

Artist: SEY PEREZ

Region: Region III PAMPANGA, PHILIPPINES

1. What is artwork all about?

Two fishermen and a farmer are portrayed, demonstrating how they live on a daily basis and
what we often eat as Filipinos, which is agricultural products such as fish.

2. What does the artist want to convey to his/her audience?

He wishes to express to us that the Philippines is a rich country with natural resources, and
that our government appears to be paying minimal attention to the agriculture industry, where
we prefer to purchase from other countries. However, we can stay up with the sector of
agriculture if the government is supported and appropriate financing is provided so that we
can progressively develop our own resources.

3. What evidence is present in the artwork for you to consider it as a contemporary

Philippine art?

Just recently, farming and fishing (fish vendors) were two of the most popular forms of
employment for Filipinos. It is an important component of our cultural identity as Filipinos
living on a beautiful island. Researchers can call it modern art since it is an identification of a
society that is still present in everyday life. As Filipinos, we must consider not only the arts,
but also their nature and how we may continue to conserve them. It will be an eye-opener for
us, as well as an opportunity to explore art beyond what we are accustomed to. It will aid us
in raising awareness about the need of learning and understanding more about Philippine arts.
We recognized that we would be covering historical locations, dances, poetry, and literature.
Art is important for us to learn, and one reason for this is the tradition of our western arts. We
wish to learn more about major modern artists from diverse fields, as well as the traditional
skills they use in contemporary work.

4. Considering the era it was created, how do you relate it with the social situation
prevalent during that time? Does it signify any message?
I could take it as a representation of how they truly do it in their specific location; it envolves
their beliefs and their life on how they do it there; it also functions, absolutely.
What I can Do

A. My artwork is titled A Girl Who Loves Coffee. I chose this because I can see myself in
this girl, and I also enjoy coffee, therefore while I was creating this art, I imagined the
girl to be me. Coffee makes me joyful, and when I drink it, I feel better.
B. My artwork is described as a reflection because I wanted to express myself via the arts.
Every time I have an activity, I want to relate it to myself in order to create better
artwork. My art serves as a mirror for me.
C. Art is frequently thought to be the activity or product of purposefully arranging
components in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions. It includes a wide range of
human activities, creations, and modes of expression, such as music, literature, film,
sculpture, and paintings.
D. Anything can be counted a work of art. Since there is no perfect definition of art, we can
claim that everything can be considered an artwork. We may not enjoy everything, but
everyone has a distinct point of view. A work of art is something that has aesthetic value,
such as something that is attractive, intriguing, interesting, creative, or exceptionally well
done.
E. The different mediums used in art are oil paints, watercolors, acrylic paints, graphite
pencils, charcoal and pastels.
F. Yes, Coffee media is increasingly employed in my society since it aids in the
transmission of messages and the refinement of ideas, and it may also act as a message in
and of itself.
