What do you like most about studying
at IE University?
What I like most about studying at
IE University is the people. All the
students come from different coun-
tries and backgrounds, and there is an
international environment that allows us
to learn a lot from our classmates, and
build strong relationships.
Our opinion matters and they take our
ideas into account; everyone can come
up with a new project or idea, which
truly sets IE University apart from other
institutions. I feel like students are trust-
ed and are always given the chance to
develop their initiatives.
When it comes to the academic aspect,
I enjoy the innovative approach, and the
fact that our teachers are professionals
with extensive experience in their corre-
sponding fields.
MY STUDENT JOURNEY
Are you involved in any extracurricular
activities?
One of the things I like most about
studying at IE University is the wide
variety of extracurricular activities we
are offered. We receive monthly news-
letters with information on the activities
that will take place during the month,
and then it’s up to us to decide which
ones we want to take part in.
I’ve attended several conferences, and
they are very interesting as they allow
us to figure out what we want to do in
the future. There are also competitions
which are very interesting. I participat-
ed in the debate tournament and it was
awesome; it helped me overcome my
fear of public speaking, and it definite-
ly helped me develop my debate skills!
I also founded the IE University Ski and
Snowboard Club with a friend, and we
organized a trip to Formigal with 50
other students, which was amazing.
What are your favorite subjects and
why?
My favorite subjects during this year
were Introduction to Political Science
and Public International Law. The first
one gave me a framework in politics,
and I got a bird’s-eye view of how
politics work and influence the modern
world. We also had the chance to do
many interesting debates, learning from
our teachers and classmates.
In the second semester we had several
subjects on law, and I loved the way
they were taught. As we studied
Comparative Law, we didn’t have to
memorize laws and books, even though
many people think that is the only way
to study law. We compared the differ-
ent law systems, thereby learning how
to draw our own conclusions, interpret
texts, and develop different ways of
thinking about the law, which was very
interesting.

Public International Law was my favorite
subject this semester, not only because
everything we learned was useful, but
also because I thought it was especially
interesting for those of us doing the
dual degree in Law and International
Relations. We analyzed several real
cases where international law had been
applied. Monitoring the proceedings
and how they were resolved helped us
understand international law better and
realize how complex and fascinating it is.
In general, I liked all the subjects and I
honestly think that law and international
relations are two degrees that go hand
in hand, and that they are relevant in
many of the current global crises.

to the world of design and architec-
ture, with projects in urban and rural
architecture, city planning, and with
local tourism authorities.

Objective: come up with a proposal for
an international temporary art contest to
decorate Segovia’s city wall. Establish the
rules and create the graphic material to
send out to participants.
Best things about it: it was a very creative
project where all ideas were welcome. The
contest had specific objectives, but we
were encouraged to think freely and come
up with innovative proposals in order to
meet those goals.

evaluation criteria was one of the most
challenging hurdles. We needed to make
sure that each aspect evaluated would
give real value to the contestant’s propos-
als and at the same time make sure it was

on analyzing financial markets and
consulting companies on a range of

Tell us about your internship. How was the
recruiting process; steps, tests, interviews?
My last internship was a full-time 3-month
internship at Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves-Perei-
ra, in the Corporate Law department. I met
them at the IEU Career Fair and gave them
my CV. After some time, I was called to take
some tests, which included a psychometric
exam and an English proficiency test, and
I also had to write a brief essay in Spanish
about a piece of recent legal news. After
that, I had a final interview with the human
resources director, where we talked more
about my motivations than my technical
skills.
What types of projects did you
work on?
In the Corporate Law department, I had the
opportunity to work on very diverse proj-
ects. I was involved in the acquisition of a
Spanish company by an international fund,
as well as in the due diligence processes of
companies in very disparate sectors, such
as the renewable energy sector and the
automotive industry. I also took part in the
drafting of new terms and conditions for a
start-up company. They were very interest-
ing projects!
How do you think you benefited from this
experience?
I had the chance to discover whether this
job was right for me or not. In my opinion,
this was very important since it allowed me
to plan my professional career much better,
and focus on what I liked most.
What are your future career aspirations?
In professional terms, I would like to pursue
an international legal career. I’d like to begin
rotating between different departments
before sticking to just one of them. I believe
this way, I can achieve a broader perspec-
tive when it comes to legal matters, which
will reflect in the value I provide to my
clients in the future.
What tips or advice would you give to
other students applying for an internship?
I’d tell students to do as many internships
as they can during their studies. For me it
has been fundamental, since it has allowed
me to identify what I like and what I don’t
when it comes to my professional career.
Doing an internship opens doors to po-
tential jobs, and obtaining one is usually a
matter of your motivations, rather than your —

The Student Life office coordinates IEU GREEN CLUB

more than 30 clubs, which are divided
into six areas: arts, sports, social
causes, debates, entrepreneurship, and
academics.
The Real Casa de la Moneda in Segovia,
is a space provided by the city council
for activities such as exhibitions, mu-
sic, conferences, and workshops.

The IEU Conference Club organizes

The sports that we offer vary from cam-
pus to campus, since Madrid is a city
campus and Segovia is a rural one.

Among the team sports we offer are:
volleyball, basketball, indoor soccer,
rugby, basketball, and tennis. In addi-
tion, IEU has special deals with several
gyms and fitness centers, to make
available other sports such as golf,
tennis, paddle tennis, swimming, and
many others.
Tryouts for IEU’s official teams take
place once every year, at the beginning
of the fall semester.

applying to our undergraduate programs. We have
a rolling admissions policy, which means that you
can apply to IEU at any point during the year. The
various stages of our admission process are aimed
at identifying those areas of your academic and
personal profile that make you unique, and to make

ADMISSION TEST
Take IE University’s admission test
or international admission tests:
the SAT, ACT, CAS, or LNAT.
The IE University admission test
assesses the verbal, logical, and
quantitative abilities you have
acquired both within and out-
side the classroom. Above all, it
centers on your ability to reason,
rather than on any particular set
of information. This means you
don’t need to study for the test
beforehand.
COMMITTEE DECISION-
MAKING
Once you have completed the
steps above, the Admissions Com-
mittee reviews your application
file, assesses your profile, and de-
termines whether or not you can
advance to the final application
phase: a personal interview.
PERSONAL INTERVIEW
The Admissions Department calls
those who have been successful
during the admission process. You
can be interviewed either on the
IE University campuses in Segovia
or Madrid, or at any of our 25
international offices. If you’re not
easily able to reach any of these
offices, we can arrange an online
interview.
The interview will allow us to get
to know you better and assess
certain qualities, such as your
personality, your ability to defend
your point of view and express
yourself, as well as other commu-
nication skills.
FINAL COMMITTEE DECISION
After the Admissions Committee
reviews your complete application
and reaches a final decision, you
will receive written notification
of your admission. Once admit-
ted, you may apply for scholar-
ships and financial aid, make the
non-refundable deposit of ¤1,500,
and submit the documentation
required for enrollment.
