This learning material entitled Finding Blue’s Clues is intended to


supplement your learning while working independently. The activities
and exercises will help you understand what context clues are all about.
This material is based on the least learned competency which is,
Determine the meaning of the word using clues (EN2V-IIh-i-12.1).
As a user of this learning material, you are expected to observe
the following:

How to determine word meaning?

Here’s how:

There are different ways to help you determine the meaning of


the words:

SYNONYMS are words that are similar or same in


meaning
e.g.: glad - happy smart - bright
small - tiny huge - big
ANTONYMS are words that have different
meaning.
e.g.: difficult-easy long - short
small- big hard - soft
PICTURE IDENTIFICATION CLUES are given pictures
that replace the word.
e.g.: Angelo jumped off from his bed quickly when
he saw the time on the

CONTEXT CLUES are word clues found in a


sentence or paragraph.
ex. Lara ran down the street. She saw a long
narrow road ahead of her.
