MASDAR CITY

MASDAR CITY IS A SUSTAINABLE

CITY LOCATED IN ABU DHABI. IT IS
ONE OF MOST INNOVATIVE
PROJECTS IN THE WORLD WITH ITS
FFOCUS ON :
CLEAN TECHNOLOGY AND
RENEWABLE ENERGY .
PRINCIPLES AND OBJECTIVES
>SUSTAINABILITY:

Integrates renewable energy sources, such

as solar power and wind energy.
To reduce its carbon footprint and
reliance on fossil fuels.

>ZERO CARBON EMISSION:

Primary objective of Masdar City is to

achieve zero carbon emissions.
This is accomplished through the use of
clean energy sources, energy-efficient
buildings, and transportation systems.
>GREEN BUILDINGS :

Masdar City promotes green building practices

and LEED (Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design) certification for its
structures. Buildings are designed to minimize
energy and water consumption.
>ADVANCED TRANSPORTATION:

City emphasizes sustainable transportation

options,
including electric and autonomous vehicles.
The Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system is a
notable example, providing residents and
visitors with efficient, low-carbon
transportation.

>WATER EFFICIENCY:

Masdar City incorporates water-efficient

landscaping, wastewater treatment, and
desalination technologies to minimize
water usage and promote responsible water
management.
WHY MASDAR CITY IS SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

Masdar city is a sustainable design :

- Buildings within the city are constructed

using green materials.

- They are designed to reduce energy and

water consumption by about 40%.

-The buildings are also very close together,

as to form narrow walkways that capture
wind and provide shade for the primarily
walking city.

-It is a rapidly growing clean-tech cluster

-Business free zone with over 710 businesses

and residential neighborhood.

kilometers long and features 2 stations:

The North Car Park and

the Masdar Institute for
Science and Technology.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT :

A research-focused institution was built within

Masdar City.

That was now a part of Khalifa University of science

and technology .

The Masdar City has established partnership with

several leading universities and research centers across
the world which make it important for research and
development .
