Introduction

Hypothesis

Materials

The material used for this lab were the following:

 Stainless steel samples

 Nickel coin (70 nickel- 30 copper)
 Pure aluminum
 Salt-water solution
 15% NaOH solution
 P-acid solution
 10% Vinegar solution
 10% HCl solution
 Beakers or containers for each solution
 Gloves, goggles, and other appropriate safety equipment.

Procedures

1. Prepare the solutions by mixing the appropriate amount of each reagent.

2. For the salt - water solution its necessary a total mass: 50 grams. For this,
Weight 4 grams of salt in 46 grams of water. Figure 1.
 Place each metal sample in a separate container filled with one of the prepared
solutions, making sure that the samples of is completely immersed in the
solution. The order of the solutions are: 1) Salt-water solution, 2) 15% NaOH
solution, 3) P-acid solution, 4) 10% Vinegar solution, 5) 10% HCl solution.
Figure 2.
3. Leave the samples in the solutions for 5, 10, 15 and 20 min.
4. Observe the changes during each time in all the solutions.
