C. Verb (simple Present Tense)
Struktur kalimat verbal pada simple present tense :

I / We /You /They + infinitive
He /she /It + infinitive + -s/es
Subyek (I, you, we dan they) langsung diikuti kata kerja infinitive, tetapi jika subyeknya orang ketiga tunggal
(He, She, It) maka kata kerja infinitivnya harus ditambah -s atau –es. Untuk itu berlaku ketentuan sbb :
a. Kata kerja yang berakhiran –y yang didahului oleh huruf mati (konsonan), maka -y di ganti dengan huruf
‘i’baru kemudian di tambah –es.
Contoh :
- I study English - He studies English
- We try to come - Rina (she) tries to come
- They play computer - She plays computer
b. Kata kerja yang berakhiran –x, -s, -ch, -sh, dan –o akan mendapat tambahan akhiran –es jika subjeknya
orang ketiga tunggal.
Contoh :
- I pass the exam - She passes the exam
- You fix my bike - You fixes my bike.
- You teach students - Ronald teaches student
- They go to school - Rina goes to school
c. Kata kerja yang berakhiran –y yang didahului oleh huruf hidup (vocal), maka langsung di tambah –s jika
subyeknya orang ketiga tunggal.
Contoh :

d. Selain ketentuan di atas, pada umumnya akan mendapatkan akhiran –s jika subyeknya orang ketiga
tunggal.

Good morning friends, My name is Mikhael Gery. Most of my friends call me Gery. I study in
SMP N 1 Kupang. I am in the seventh grade. Now, let me tell you all about my activities on
Tuesday. On Tuesday, I study Indonesian at 07.00 – 08. 30 a m, then I study Mathematics at
08.30 – 10.15. I have the first break time at 09.15 – 09.30 after that I study English at 10.15 –
12.00 and next I have the second break time at 11.00-11.15. Finally I study Arts at 12.00 –
12.45. The class ends at 12.45 and that’s the time to go back home.
